I do wear makeup sometimes outside of work, but it takes what seems like forever. When I do my eyes I'm a perfectionist and I have to blend my colors just right to achieve the look I want. I am actually really good at doing makeup, but sometimes wish I could throw it on fast and be on my way. The biggest thing I miss when I'm not wearing makeup to work is my eyeliner. I feel off without eyeliner and have contemplated getting permanent eyeliner done if I can find someone who does the quality of work I'd want.

It's interesting that you say that you feel you are treated differently with makeup. Part of what inspired the thread was an article I read about a study done where they found that study participants were shown pictures of the same women in various states of makeup, from bare faced to full faced, and the general consensus was that the women with more makeup were seen as more competent by the participants.
Exactly.

It seems silly when I type it out, but it's completely true. Same thing with blonde hair. People treated me like I was an airhead when I had blonde hair.

Wearing full face makeup and presenting a polished look to the general public affects how seriously people take me. . . and when you're a woman in the car industry, every bit counts.

You do take forever doing makeup, but you do it ridiculously well. It transforms you from gorgeous straight to bombshell. I'm a little envious of your skill. . .

I do wear mascara most days that I remember with a hint of eyeshadow. But that's all I ever do. I don't even think I even know how to do anything else haha

I wear makeup to hide my hideously pale skin with black rings around my tired eyes. Or at least to attempt preventing people from saying "you look tired" why yes I am but that doesn't exactly help. LOL

I do wear makeup everyday. Primer (a bb cream), foundation, powder, rouge, a little bit of highlighter, mascara. Some days neutral colored eyeshadow or liner.

I always wear makeup. I think it's fun and it somewhat helps people think I look older. When everyone thinks that you're 17 and you're actually mid-20s, that's helpful. Though they still only think I'm 18-19. :p

Lol I never understood why these threads always turn into

"If you do wear makeup than you are a girly girl who cares too much about what other people think. Your work/personality should get you noticed, not stuff caked on your face"
"If you don't wear makeup than you are a slob who doesn't care what people think of you or try. Your overall presentation at work includes makeup and looking put together"

Hello.
People wear makeup for the same reasons people wear different clothes.. because we like to, because it's fun, because we like how we look in them.

Wearing or not wearing makeup does not dictate work ethic, personality, intelligence, success at work, femininity or anything else other than... MAKEUP.
Wear it, don't wear it.. it really has very little to do with your overall self as a human being.

I wear it because I like it. Simple as that lol would I really be that different if I didn't wear it? Nope.

I'm not sure if that was in reference to what I said, but I don't think I ever said anything like that. I said what I said because *I* don't like doing it, and that's what it feels like *to me*. I went through a phase where I went to clubs and I would wear some then, but after about 6 months I was uncomfortable with the idea. My two best friends wear it all the time, because they enjoy it, but they don't feel it to be necessary.

I'm just excessively sensitive to being judged based on my appearance, and I always have, since I was a teenager. When I was 14 my first real crush asked me if I could be any cup size what size I would be, and I said A, because I didn't want people to judge me based on my appearance but because of who I was (and I'm sure you know to many teenage girls weight and breast size is proportional to prettiness, of course). Of course I don't think exactly that way now, but I don't like doing anything to turn my own body into something it's not, personally, regardless of the occasion, much to my own mother's dismay.
