I only ask because I did tonight. And I didn't even have my phone to play on :p

Wasn't all that bad, and didn't even get that many strange looks ;)

Someplace like subway or panera? Sure. A place where someone has to seat you and take your order? I've only done it once, because I had an expense account to blow when I was traveling alone for work. (I went to Ruths Chris on company money :D)

Yeah, I don't mean fast food. I mean walk in, be shown to a table and take your order place?

I'm away for work, and I loathe sitting in my hotel room on my own all evening, so just went for it.

I've also gone to a pub on my own and watched a band, on one trip. I only stay out an hour or so, but I feel more confident after each time!

I've only been to the cinema on my own once, and I did enjoy it. I'd do it again.

I do on occasion.
whenever I'm travelling I like to find nice restaurants and cafe's and occasionally when I'm out and hungry I'll go get whatever I feel like at the time, weather its a kebab or a sit down meal.

Somewhere like Subway or a cafe, sure. A restaurant, though? No way. I don't have a problem going to the movie theater by myself, but I get weirdly self conscious about eating at a restaurant by myself. Luckily I have a designated "foodie buddy". We're looking forward to me getting back in town just so we can finally go out to eat again :rofl1:

This! I'm going to my first movie by myself tomorrow, I've planned it, LOL. I really wanna see Silver Linings Playbook and all my friends have already seen it, and I have a gift card. My uncle does it all the time, a few friends have told me they've done it, so now I don't feel so weird about it. Plus I feel like at a movie it's not like you're talking to friends during it anyway. But out to dinner? I think I'd be really bored, and feel awkward.

I typically don't even do it at places like Subway, etc, because I'll either have Jackson in the car with me, or just pick it up to bring it home because he has to be let out, lol.

I loved that movie! I didn't watch it on the big screen (used my computer at home instead LOL) but it's such a great movie. Plus, it doesn't hurt that I have a giant girl crush on Jennifer Lawrence.

But yeah, I feel the same way about movie theaters and restaurants. Movie theaters are dark and it's practically impossible for any attention to be drawn to you. You just focus solely on the movie, it doesn't really matter if there's a friend sitting next to you or not. On the other hand, when I'm at a restaurant, I don't just hone in on my food and forget everything else around me. I enjoy going out to eat for the food, and for the opportunity to socialize with friends. Whether it's breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner, I definitely would feel extremely self conscious about being alone at a restaurant. Even at home, I need to be doing something while I'm eating.

I typically don't even do it at places like Subway, etc, because I'll either have Jackson in the car with me, or just pick it up to bring it home because he has to be let out, lol.
Oh yeah, I've never actually eaten by myself at a Subway because the one I go to is within walking distance from my house. Whenever I go there to grab lunch, I always have Trent with me, so I just bring it home or eat at one of their tables outside and share with him. I also can't remember the last time I actually ate inside a Mcdonald's or Dairy Queen's because it's always a "swing by with a friend for a snack" thing.

Cafes and coffee shops are the same, if I'm getting food I'll always end up sitting outside at a table with Trent. But I don't really have any reservations about scarfing down a sandwich at Subway's by myself, either.

I'm not that brave, I'm jealous of those who are.
This. I'll go in, get take out, and eat in my car alone. Of course, generally when I'm traveling, it is for agility stuff. If I have friends there, we go out as a group. If not, I get take out and eat in the motel with the dogs.

I've done it before, don't remember why. I think I just really wanted some Mexican and everybody else was busy, so I went out and got some all for myself hahaha. I remember getting my food, eating, and being out of the restaurant REMARKABLY fast hahahaha.

Not something I would normally do, just because I don't go out to eat all that often to begin with - usually it takes somebody else wanting to go somewhere for me to go out anyway - but I wouldn't NOT do it if that makes sense, LOL.

ETA: Ah!! BB's post just reminded me of why I did it! I wanted to hit the Mexican place in Indy and everybody else wanted to go to a steakhouse... and I was on the other side of Indy shopping at Trader Joe's when they were all getting ready to eat anyway. So I was like "Oh you guys go ahead!! (Imma go get me some Mexican.)"

I did it once. It was awkward and weird, but only because of the restaurant I went to. They sat me in the middle of the room at this giant table and it was just weird and uncomfortable. It was my first time at that restaurant and I didn't know how it was set up, otherwise I wouldn't have gone by myself. And to top it off, the food sucked.

But I'd go to a different restaurant by myself. I see people do that all the time and never think it's weird. Sometimes I feel bad for people who look obviously lonely though haha. I always want to invite them over to our table, but that'd be a little too weird for me so I never have.

I don't think so. I don't even do that at fast food places haha. But I go to the movies by myself all the time and don't mind that.

Yup. I usually have one weekday off per week, which my husband doesn't, and I often go out to breakfast or lunch and/or a movie by myself. I bring a book or the newspaper. I don't do it as much since I started weight watchers, but I still do it.
