My list changes frequently.

Australian Kelpie
ACD
Standard Poodle
Some sort of sighthound. Probably an ex-racer, possibly a whippet or something more rare (Azawakh).
Chinese Crested
English Setter
Yeah, 10 is too many, ummm....
Rough Collie
Coonhound
Manchester Terrier
Cocker Spaniel (I can't believe they made their way onto my list, just barely, but I've so many I've liked. I would only get one from a shelter though.)

1. Papillon
2. Border collie
3. Australian Cattle Dog
4. Shetland Sheepdog
5. Belgian Shepherd (any variety but particularly malinois)
6. Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retreiver
7. Kooikerhondje
8. Pyrenean Shepherd
9. Australian Shepherd
10. Markiesje
I still like all those breeds quite a bit. I don't think I'd ever get an ACD though. The ones I've been around are just not my kind of dog.

My list now. Honestly, after papillon it gets a little jumbled. Number 2-6 really depends on the day. I love all of them pretty equally. After #6, I'm a lot less likely to own them, I think.

1. Papillon
2. Pyrenean Shepherd
3. Border Collie
4. Australian Shepherd
5. Belgian Shepherd (tervuren)
6. Shetland Sheepdog
7. Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever
8. Mudi

Eh... I'm running out of possible breeds.

My Top 10 then, in no order

1) German Shepherd Dog
2) Border Collie
3) Beauceron
4) Mudi
5) (not really) Dutch Shepherd
6) American Pit Bull Terrier
7) Papillon
8) (not sure) Doberman Pinscher
9) (not sure) English Shepherd

Last image was deleted on Flickr, so not sure what breed it was!

My Top 10 now, in order. I will probably only ever own the top 3.

1) German Shepherd Dog
2) English Shepherd
3) Long-haired Whippet

4) Beauceron
5) APBT or more likely, a bully type adult rescue
6) Golden Retriever

That's all I can think of for certain, but four other breeds I like (but am not thinking about owning):
7) Australian Cattle Dog
8) Indy (I want to steal her, I love that Dutch Shepherd girl)
9) Border Collie

Really can't think of one more.

Yeah this is sort of how I am and why I only have 4 listed. There are several other breeds I like and I think would be good match...English Shepherds being the most obvious...but given that I can only own so many dogs at once and do right by them, there's realistically only a very few breeds that I will likely own in the near future.

My thoughts as well. Plus, I have always said that I can't see myself with more than 2 dogs at a time, and I will probably always have one of "my" breed (a GSD). I may be open to a 3rd if it is a whippet, but it's a big maybe.

Oh, and I plan for my dogs to live forever. So there's that, too :D

3. English Cocker Spaniel
4. French Bulldog
5. NSDTR
6. APBT
7. Belgian Shepherds
8. Golden Retriever

If papillons came in about a 30 lb size I don't know if I'd have anything else. Or well... if Mia papillons came in 30 lb sizes I probably wouldn't.

You could just sign me right up for a 30 lb papillon! That's about Lucy sized and I think she's pretty ideal size wise.

I don't have a long list of breeds I REALLY want to own so I'll just bold those and then the rest are simply breeds I really like, and may consider someday.

1. Australian Shepherd

2. German Shepherd Dog

3. Cardigan Welsh Corgi (I like everything about them except their requirement for bowed front legs so I may end up never getting one anyways)

4. Rottweiler

5. English Shepherd

6. Australian Cattle Dog

7. Border Collie

8. Lancashire Heeler

9. Swedish Valhund

10. Kelpie

My list then...

1. Boxer
2. Border Collie
3. Brittany
4. Newfoundland
5. Cardigan Corgi
6. Doberman
7. ACD

Get rid of the Newfie and ACD... throw in Berger Picard, I'm surprised that wasn't already on there lol.

Otherwise I think the rest of that list still holds up well!

I'm always changing my mind. I had to laugh at some of the breeds I listed two years ago. Some of them I still like, but I definitely would not own them or even have that much interest in them anymore.

What I listed two years ago:

1) Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever

2) Rottweiler

3) German Shepherd Dog

4) Siberian Husky

5) Dalmatian

6) Shikoku.

7) English Shepherd

8) Doberman Pinscher

9) Australian Shepherd
My current list (not really in order, and the first two are tied now for me):

1) Australian Shepherd
2) Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever
3) Australian Kelpie
4) Koolie
5) Belgian Shepherds (Tervuren and Groenendael specifically)
6) Other kinds of retrievers, depending on the week: Chessies, Flat Coats, and show line Goldens

And that's about it! For some reason I have an infatuation with Leonbergers and shorthaired St. Bernards, but I don't think they really belong on a favourites list. I think a long time from now I want one of either breed as my more laid back big dog though. Sometimes I like Dalmatians, too.

I still like Dobermans as well, but for as many things that I love about them, there are some traits that can frustrate me. So I've decided that after my guys, they're better off with other people and I'll just love other peoples' Dobermans.

I think what I'll end up having in the future is a couple of Aussies, a Toller and probably a Koolie eventually. But mostly Aussies (related to Journey somehow probably - she's truly my ideal dog so far).

Hmm. Well, I have a pretty long list, and if you asked me tomorrow I might say something different. But here's a top ten (in no particular order), if I had to pick right now:

1) Longhaired Whippet (if it wasn't obvious)

2) Papillon

3) Rough Collie

4) Cirneco dell'Etna

5) English Shepherd

6) Koolie

7) Borzoi

8) Scottish Deerhound

9) Italian Greyhound

10) GSD

Currently, and not in order:

Fila

Azawakh

Shikoku. Oh man, some breeders got back to me and honestly they sound like my dream dog. Very independent yet really wants to please. They hunt boar. Strong tracking drive. Alert barkers but quiet otherwise. Get along with dogs in their own households. Very protective of their families and suspicious of strangers. <3

Alaskan Noble Companion Dog. Working on meeting some to see if they're what I want.

American Stag. Not soon, but someday I will have one again. Best dogs ever.

Borzoi. Will always have one.

Umm. I can't settle on four for the rest. Those are the tops for now.

Loving all the English Shepherd love going on in this thread. I think they're a pretty awesome breed.

After living with my Sweet Boy, I'm not sure I will every really want anything other than an ES. Hudson is pretty awesome.

1. English Shepherd because....well...he is awesome.

*In no real order*

2. Australian Shepherd. I really like the ones on this board, nothing like the dogs where I grew up. Everyone here seems to have nice, stable dogs. Not like the lunatics back home.

3. Border Collie. I do have a deep, secret love to BCs that are well bred. My mom called me one day to tell me about a BC she had at work that was the nicest dog ever.

4. Papillons. They seem like such happy little dogs with such a zest for life. I need a serious dog and a happy dog.

5. Sighthounds. I know, not a breed, but I love to look at 'Zois, Silkens, LH Whippets and I'd love to have an ex-racer Grey. Love them. Love them so much, but the husband doesn't like the look of sighthounds and at this time we don't have a good place for them to run around of leash and there is nothing more beautiful than a sighthound running.

6. Berger Picard. Had my heart set on one as my next dog, because I do really like them, but it didn't work out. Maybe in the future.

7. Texas Lacey. I don't think I'll ever actually be able to do a Lacey justice, but man did I love Peco. Once we got out of the puppy stage and he stopped chewing everything, he became the perfect dog. Loved his people, protective, super smart.

8. Rottweiler. I adore rotties. I don't know if I'd ever be a good match for them, so I'll just love all the ones I see from afar.

9. GSD. I don't know anything about the types & lines, but grew up with them and I will always have a soft spot for them.

10. Standard poodle. I don't really know about this one, but hey, I reached 10 and I could totally see myself owning one someday.

Aussies, Border Collies, English Shepherds, Kelpies, Koolies. Not quite ten, but my list has narrowed significantly over time and realistically I will probably always just have aussies.

I am thinking that a whippet or retired racing greyhound is going to be my old lady dog though. :lol-sign:
