Great news MM! Some other moms I've been talking to swear by the angel care monitor so that's the one I've registered for but I've heard good things about the one you're talking about too!

In other news, I'm 26 weeks and I've gained 28lbs. I feel like a whale.

Has anyone used or does anyone plan on using any kind of baby breathing monitor?

I saw one today that clips right onto the diaper, and monitors the movement of the stomach. It's 100$, but has good reviews. I am TERRIFIED of SIDS. Like, even before I got pregnant, I would think about what if I ever have a child and SIDS happens to us. I know I'm going to be neurotic and nuts about any sleeping area for my baby, probably have a fan and humidifier going, constantly check the sheets/mattress/etc...

I'm wondering if a monitor for breathing would be a good idea, at least for peace of mind.
A friend of mine used the angel monitor thingy... just beware, they can be prone to false alarms lol. She said hers went off a couple times in the middle of the night and even at times where no baby had been in the crib for hours and they thought it was off LOL

No you are not a whale! You pretty much gain whatever you're going to gain during pregnancy so try not to stress over it. At 25 weeks I'd gained 25 pounds too but I've gone back to "normal" gain at my last appointment. Pregnancy screws with everything, including metabolism.

I have the OPPOSITE problem. Wanna switch? My doctor keeps fussing at me. Since 8 weeks, I have lost 48 lbs. I was 263. I weighed in at 215 last appt.

Allison, that doesn't sound like too much to me. I guess I should be one to talk, at 23 weeks I've gained 5.5 lbs, but my doctor wanted me to gain 40? and I'm pretty sure for most people of average weight around 30 is the goal? And your weight gain will slow down a bit in the end, so I wouldn't worry. I'm sure it's uncomfortable, or annoying, but I doubt that much would be difficult to lose post-baby or be unhealthy at all.

Barbara, how many weeks are you? I'm 23 weeks and only gained my last two appointments, so started gaining at 18 weeks. And I didn't have to increase my calorie intake so, I guess metabolism slowed.

Yup and so did Erica!!! But everyone who is currently pregnant (both here and that I know IRL and on tumblr) is expecting a girl.

Now I know Barbara having a boy, myself and one friend who did not find out, and...Taq, Jen, Allison, plus 5 on tumblr, plus 2 IRL, having little girls!

DEFINITELY a boy.

He hates the Doppler, lol. Whenever they put it on me, he begins kicking and punching like mad. He is 11oz, has small feet, and is almost as long as a banana.

Mine hates the Doppler too. :)

I have had such horrible heartburn, nausea and indigestion for the past few days that it's killed my appetite. I feel like my upper GI system is eroding. Which is perfect timing because I've agreed to dogsit my boss' wild standard poodle guide dog foster puppy for a week. What was I thinking?

Sorry to hear about the indigestion. Hope it eases up for you! I never had more than a week or so of heartburn at a time and tums usually did the trick for me. I did have to avoid tomato based sauces and I still am until baby comes. That was my big trigger.

Could you just send that puppy to my house? Thanks :)
Certainly! Send me your address :) He comes with the energy of a border collie and the bite inhibition of a maligator. (are all spoos like this???). He should come with a Kevlar body suit. lol!

Jen, I shouldn't complain too much-- I've been able to survive by drinking a ton of milk when it gets bad and Tums when it gets really bad. It's only bad because due to work schedule, sometimes I end up eating dinner not long before going to bed and then I have to try to sleep sitting up. lol

Do you know what style you want to use yet?

I used fitted cloth diapers with waterproof fabric covers for my daughter, and an assortment with my son.

Have to say, even though they're old fashioned, prefolds are amazing. They're really affordable, and when you put them on right they hold in an incredible amount of poo. Sam used his with wool soakers and it worked incredibly well. Definitely my favorite vs. the fitted ones. The only drawback is it makes their butt really big and a lot of modern baby clothes are made for a slimmer outline. My other favorites were some pocket diapers.

Anyway, I got my daughter's from my old boss. I raised all three of her kids in those diapers, and then they got passed on to my kids. It might sound grody to get them secondhand but washed and then sterilized out in the sunshine, they're totally nice and white and still have no stains on them. They're also incredibly soft now. lol.

They were lost in storage when my son was born so I bought a huge box of cloth diapers off craigslist. Some lady had bought a sample of every style you can possibly imagine for her son that had autism. He had sensory issues with clothes, and she went through a lot of diapers finding a brand and fabric he could stand to wear. So I got $650 worth of brand new cloth diapers, some unused and some used once, for only $100. It's definitely worth checking craigslist because some women get really enthusiastic about it and spend a lot of money on supplies, then decide it's not really working for them once the baby is born.
