While Brian was between jobs and while he did have a paycheck coming in for the month... We didn't know how soon he would have a
New job and we mostly lived off our stock pile so that we weren't spending money we didn't have to spend. It all turned out fine but having food and such taken care of was a big relief.

Yup! We're supposed to maintain a one year supply of food for our families. It's come in handy a few times. There have been some natural disasters, like extended power outages, where it was helpful to us and our neighbors because they started running out of food.
Locally everybody in the community is encouraged to keep a fully stocked 72 hour kit in their car because we have earthquakes and are due for a big one. The food in mine gets rotated out several times a month because we go on picnics and outings and I feed the kids out of it, then restock on the way home.

Because one of my hobbies is back country camping, I'm pretty much set for anything, including treating water.
Our normal pantry has about a week of food and if I'm getting ready to go camping, I have at least 2 weeks worth of dehydrated foods in portions large enough to keep me warm in near freezing wet weather (my luck with weather is bad at best). This equates to about 14 normal 2 or 3 person servings.
So, no bag per se, but pretty prepared none-the-less.

Not prepared at all. If we are due for a hurricane or a blizzard, I will stock up on extra non perishable, non electricity using food, but on a daily basis I don't store it. I don't like living in fear.
We did have a small container of food when I lived in california in case there was an earthquake, since those are not predictable.
If the zombie apocalypse happens, I will sacrifice myself early on. I'd rather not live through that.

I am not overly nervous about natural disasters. We are in PA amd we are high up on a hill so we don't get mich extreme weather other than flooding and since we are up on a hill our home is not really affected by that although we could be an island for a few days lol.

I also don't go to extremes. I won't buy 10 boxes of granola bars when I know that I only eat 1 box per month. Financially, that would be tying up my funds in "stuff", and betting that the price of "stuff" appreciates faster (inflation) than investing that money elsewhere. Maybe I'll be wrong and granola bars or toilet paper will be three times as expensive next year, but I'm betting not.
I don't buy things and leave them sit until an emergency happens. To me that just leaves me with the option of wait until it almost expires and then have to use it all immediately or lose it. That to me is a waste. I only stock up on things we use on a regular basis and can easily replace but that could also easily be eaten in case of emergency. We probably have ten boxes
Of granila bars downstairs but Hannah also goes through them like crazy lol. Fruit snacks ... Same thing but we also donate extras.
BUT my opinion is also the 7 P's. Proper
Prior planning prevents **** poor performance. Nothing wrong with being prepared for hard times. Like I said earlier, that came in handy when Brians job went way
