I just have to share the most terrible name I personally know someone is naming their kid.

Zora Cassiopeia. Dead serious. I feel bad for that child already and everyone on Facebook keeps commenting that they love the name. I can't decide if it's just because they're brutal people or just don't know what to say. I just haven't commented on the name at all. We're not good enough friends at all for me to ask why the hell she named her kid that ahaha although I will forever secretly judge her

I have a friend naming their child Remington Gauge. It's a cute name and to each their own, but it sounds so... "Country" to me.

I don't see anything wrong with the name, and I'm a huge etymology nerd and super critical of people's names most of the time. Zora doesn't sound too out there at all...it's easy to spell and pronounce, and it isn't made up or given some unusual spelling to be creative that will only cause problems. It's heard of, known, but not common.

Cassiopeia is a little more "out there", but it's in the middle name spot. She doesn't even have to tell people about it when she's older if she doesn't want to...no one will call her that automatically. And I still think Cassiopeia is a much nicer name than ones that are entirely made up, impossible to spell or say, or "filler"...the parents just chose it because it would sound good with ANY first name (things like Ann, Marie, Grace). It's quirky, but it has nice associations, and could use a number of nicknames (Cass, Cassie, Sia).

What's not out there to some may still be out there to others, lol. I think that name is pretty out there, personally.

Zora is an old fashioned name that is still fairly popular (and old fashioned names in general are very popular right now).

To me, out there names are names that are not actually names...

Ugh, so right now I am having some pretty serious pressure right underneath my belly button and it's pretty uncomfortable. My friend says it's because that is where the baby is moving at right now. Is this normal? I don't like it, lol. He's usually resting further in... But now he's up close to the surface and it's pretty uncomfortable.

The worst, and I mean absolute WORST name I have EVER heard was Chlamydia. Chlamydia Brown. I am not even making this up. The poor girl's mother thought it was a flower. She changed her name the moment it was legal, and told everyone in school it was something totally different.

One time I talked a pregnant woman out of naming her unborn daughter "Treblinka". She had no idea what it was, just thought it sounded pretty. Seriously people. Google stuff before you name your children something unusual.

Barbara, could it be gas? I was kind of worried about pressure/pain like that, but it was just gas. Unless it's more severe than moderate menstrual cramps, or you're bleeding at all, or any other weird symptoms (or it doesn't go away), I wouldn't worry.

LOL you'd have to know my mother... She wants a name that fits with her other two granddaughters names (Emily and Hannah...) while I prefer slightly more unique names.

The name we've picked is Harlow (see? Not that outlandish) and as a backup, Everleigh.

Last night, my mom referred to the baby as Dexter. As if that's someone better than Harlow? lol

Ooooo I LOVE Harlow! Old English names like that are beautiful. Harryo is one of my favorite names for a girl and Harlow is up there, too. Good choice!


I'm stuck on names. A girl will be Karen Annalise, but for a boy I am so indecisive. It was going to be Gunner Gene, but then I decided I actually hated that. Then Layton Carlisle and I hated that, too.

Now I'm stuck between three first names I can't pick middle names for... Help?

Ryland Parker is what we're naming our son (if we have one!).

I've never met anyone with the name Ryland before, but it's been my favorite boys name for years.

Rylan is the name of a flash in the pan celebrity here who was on xfacor and celebrity big brother!

I like Hunter and Landon a lot.

If you choose Ryland, be prepared for people to ask if it's a boy or a girl, call him Ryan even after they've been corrected, and ask "how do you spell it" constantly. If those things don't bother you, go for it.

Ian's name is a fairly common boys name, and he still gets that all of the time. He's been called Ann, Ion, In, and many other butchered attempts at his name.

My name is Jessie, and people are constantly asking "how do you spell that," I get things saying "Jesse" written all of the time, I've gotten pieces of mail where people assume I'm a man because of my name, etc, etc. Even common names can be misspelled, mispronounced, and butchered.

Allison- everleigh is what Tyler and I pretty much decided we are naming our daughter, when or if we have a daughter. It's a gooder, and Harlow is a keeper too. Both are very, very pretty

I think Harlow and Everleigh are beautiful names! And my mom does stuff like that too - she's been super supportive of whatever name we pick but incredibly annoying about random other things lol.
