Have you had one before - or been on the receiving end of one? (I am asking the latter because I bet there are some great stories...)

How did you handle it?

And am I the only one with this problem? :rofl1:

I currently have a crush on one of my coworkers and it's driving me crazy. The person is definitely not my type -not at all - and I don't get where it's coming from. I almost never have crushes. I can count on one hand the number of crushes that I've had in my life. I'm not even sure when it started.

Yup, big time. I worked with so many attractive, ambitious people. I've been with my husband since college (engaged since senior year, married halfway through my first year working) so there was never any chance of anything happening!

Yes, I've been on both ends.

I have a strict policy to never date a co-worker though.

Yeah, it seems like so much could go wrong with that. I'd never seriously want to, but I'm just pathetically crushing on one of them right now and it won't go away.

If it was like my last workplace crush I would get it. Everyone liked that person. Super cute, super sexy, super nice person that I had a lot in common with. That makes sense! This crush doesn't. Nothing in common at all, really no reason for it.

Amber: dump Josh and go date your coworker. Just saying. :p

I'm pretty sure that we've never had a single straight dude at my work... :lol-sign: Eliminates THAT problem.

Nolu, I KNOW you remember the boss crush fiasco I had like two years ago, :rofl1: I actually quit my job over that.

Aside from my significantly older, significantly married, significantly in charge boss? I did have a crush on one coworker, he was also totally not my type, really cute...I didn't think he was into me at all, and he ended up dating my other coworker (who left around the time they broke up, although that was unrelated). He DID ask me out, much later, but by then I had found out he'd been with all three of the other girls I worked with :p, and I was onto bigger and better things :p

Then there was my coworker who stuck his tongue down my throat at the Christmas party after I asked him if he didn't talk to me because I was white. He tried his hardest to make it weird, but it really wasn't.

I might date a coworker if work wasn't really a social environment at all...but if it's the kind of thing where I hung out with coworkers or they all talked about each other and dated each other and slept with each other, I'd stay far, far away. There's a difference between going out to dinner with a guy from work without anyone really knowing, and going out with a guy from work who's broken up with another coworker recently and tells his BFF the secretary every detail about his life.

Maybe they'll quit, LOL. Worked when I was in retail! "Oh, you're quitting? So HEY..."

If it's just a pathetic regular crush and not serious feelings, I honestly think it's a good thing...makes work more fun

OTOH when I quit the produce place, I was terrified the guy who had a crush on me was going to be texting me, and at that point I had no other excuse except to flat out say "I'm just not attracted to you, dude," and I avoid saying stuff like that if I don't have to.
Luckily I think I had made it clear without flat out saying that, because he never texted me. *wipes forehead*

I was JUST thinking about that actually! I didn't remember that you quit over it. He seemed intriguing. Sometimes bad ideas are tempting. Doesn't make them any less of a bad idea, though.

What happened, exactly? Did he pressure you to quit or was it just uncomfortable?

Maybe they'll quit, LOL. Worked when I was in retail! "Oh, you're quitting? So HEY..."
Yeah, but I don't want to go there. . . :rofl1: I mean, I want to go there but I don't want to go there. Really don't. I like being friendly and flirty. . . that's so much closer to my comfort zone. We both have SOs anyway, so that's not an option even if I planned on it.

If it's just a pathetic regular crush and not serious feelings, I honestly think it's a good thing...makes work more fun
Yep, it's a pathetic regular crush. I don't think I'm capable of more than that. Flirting makes work more interesting, I guess, but I flirt with everyone in the back. They know I'm all talk with nothing to back it up - they figured that out ages ago.

I've been on the receiving end. A lot. At like every single job I've ever had. I hate it.

There was a guy I secretly hard-core crushed on, though. I didn't really know much about him, but he was cute and the lead singer of a band. I'd say which band, but I don't know that I want everyone looking him up. :p

No offense, Caitlin, but it's kind of understandable. You're adorable. :rofl1:

I can see where it's ridiculously annoying, though. A couple of people at this place have had minor crushes on me that I stopped in their tracks. So far it's been pretty minor - no one has been too bad about it. I just start ignoring them when they act weird around me, and pay attention to them again when they're normal. All this dog training stuff pays off IRL.
