I didn't do any screening tests either for this reason and I likely won't even do the test for gestational diabetes (have I said how much I heart my midwives?).

Barbara, like someone said above, turn the risk percentage on its head and you'll realize that chances are much more likely that you have a healthy baby :)

Barbara, I'm sorry to hear you're not happy with the test results. Everyone else is right...it doesn't mean ANYTHING and false positives are so common. For now, just focus on taking care of your self and minimizing stress, and decide if you want to do more testing or not.

I'm trying hard not to worry... It's scary.

I think though, that I just felt the baby kick. It was almost like a tingling sensation, and then a quick jerk within myself that made me sit up a second. And now I feel waves of tingling.

I'm a bit worried that I'm only 24 weeks and already am starting to get a bit uncomfortable. I can't bend over to tie my boots and walking my dog is sometimes tough-- when he pulls it feels like he's pulling on my uterus and I get short of breath a lot easier.

Tonight I was determined to zip up my sweater, split the zipper then spent 15 minutes watching my husband try to free me. Someone please tell me that it's possible for my growth to slow down?

You're in your growth spurt stage and I 100% feel your pain. It was painful to tie my shoes this morning and I am only 17 weeks. I'm growing rapidly and it's really frustrating because it feels like just yesterday I was able to move just fine and now I'm tired, short of breath, and pretty uncomfortable. ): I hope it gets better for you, though. I guess it just takes some getting used to.

(((tonsofhugs)))

Your body goes through so much adjusting. One thing that helps a little when your stomach is stretching, it feels really itchy. If you rub olive oil on your stomach and any other growing body parts it takes the itch away. Also, you will not get stretch marks!!! I have two kids and ZERO stretch marks. Buahaha.

I've been getting short of breath if I as much as go up and down the stairs or from the basement to top floor since I was like 7 weeks :( that's one of the worst parts I think. I'm 21 weeks and not even really showing, but my stomach is starting to feel kind of tight and it's harder to get up from the floor and stuff, so I don't think it's too early for you to be feeling like that. Just make sure if the dog pulls, he won't pull you down, since your balance will be off.

It will slow down! Do not let this freak you out (everyone is different!) but I grew the most between 21 and 27. It's definitely slowing down now though (29 weeks). However, the next person to tell me that I look *really* pregnant is probably going to get smacked. The shortness of breath is probably not going to go away. :| I've had it since the beginning and while it's not getting worse, it's also not getting better (most likely because everything is now getting squashed up under my ribs).

I did this with a work jacket (AT work lol) the other day and had to free myself. It was amusing and yet kind of depressing.

I want to mention too that you'll develop work arounds for the uncomfortable-ness. I have methods for everything - tying my shoes, getting off the floor, getting out of bed, picking things up off the floor, feeding the dogs, etc. I'm REALLY looking forward to being able to do all those things normally again but until then the work arounds are doable.

This. Try squatting (which is good for you anyways) or for tying shoes I preferred to lean on the back of the couch and cross a leg over. I still do this, for socks too. I haven't ever gotten to the point of not being able to figure out a way to reach my feet lol!

As for the walking and heavy feeling, I think I've mentioned it before, but a support belt will work wonders. I had to get one around 24 weeks as well because the ligament pain was pretty bad when I walked.

I think lots of the difficulty in moving is more from shifting bones and muscles and stretching than from the actual size of the baby/belly. I'm at a point where people who know me well could tell if I'm wearing tighter-fitting clothes, but there's no way a stranger would guess I'm pregnant and I can easily hide it. And I'm still a freakin' spazz trying to reach for stuff and bend and get up.

This this so much this! I forgot to thank you for recommending this for me Jen! I got one awhile ago and it makes a HUGE difference in the amount of pelvic pain I have. I wear it into work (I have a fair distance to walk in/out), when I stand around in the kitchen, when I go to the park (I can go to the park again yay!), the grocery store, and anywhere else I think it will be useful. I do not think it's being dramatic to say that it's been life changing. I can be a ton more active now (and not pay for it for three days).

Yay!! :D Glad it helped you too!

There is also one for after you have the baby, I just bought it on the weekend, called the Belly Bandit (there are other brands too but this one I've read came recommended). Helps hold all of your muscles in and keep belly tight for the weeks after you have the baby. Supposed to help get you back to 'normal' size faster as well, but I mostly bought it for the support aspect.

My second trimester is easily worse than my first. I thought this was the trimester you were supposed to glow and feel great? I am tired, all the time, nauseous, I feel like crud... And bending and moving around in general seems to just be uncomfortable no matter what I do even though I'm not that big yet. Uuurghhh

I'll have to look into that! I'm hoping to be fairly active while I'm on leave (spring time is my favorite hiking/being outdoor time) so I'm into anything that will help.

Unfortunately not everyone feels great in the second tri. It is very individual. Sorry you're having a rough time!

Mine was ok but I had bad hip/pelvic pain starting at 20 weeks and still had weird appetite moments off and on. I found taking a liquid iron supp helped with the tiredness and nausea quite a bit actually. You might want to try that!

I felt horrible from week 7 onward and just got worse at Christmas (16 weeks ish). I'm now into my 21st week and just starting to feel a bit better.

The past week has been full of movements that I can feel from the inside, with my hands and that I can see!!! It's super cook to watch my belly jump. I'm already so head over heels for this baby that I can't focus on anything else!

The most recent episode of The New Normal was all about breastfeeding and even breastfeeding in public. It was pretty cool!

eta: There were a few bits of misinformation, and all the NIP was with covers, but other than that, it seemed well done!

:D That is so awesome!

I'm at the stage where kicks are a lot less and there is more stretching/rolling going on, which feels very strange and makes for some really interesting stomach shapes (like the pic I posted before of my weird stomach - it happens like every couple of hours now lol)

Cool, I will have to check it out!
