I've actually used the Easy Walk harness backwards before... lol. I just put it on with the thing that's usually on the front chest and I put it on the back. I considered buying an easy walk and using it this way, but I don't think it would give me the good fit I'm looking for.

The only harnesses that I find fit Jackson the best are Puppia's. But even on them, the neck part can loosen up a bit sometimes. So I was going to possibly get a Puppia Rite Fit with the adjustable neck part. But then I kind of wanted a plainer harness since he already has other Puppia's. And I like trying new things! :p

Not meaning to derail the thread at all, but it seems a lot of people here use harnesses so thought one of you might be able to answer a question I've been wondering for a bit.

Is it harmful to a dog to wear a regular figure 8 (I think that's what they're called..) style harness, but use the O-ring at the front to clip the leash to?

The reason I ask is that normally I don't use harnesses much at all, and therefore don't know much about them. I hate how Journey's Easy Walk fits and don't even bother with it anymore unless I need to, and I don't really want to have to spend money on a different kind of front clip when I'm only planning on a harness being temporary. I have three normal style harnesses at home (Hamilton and Rogz brands). Would one of those be fine to walk Journey in if I attached the leash to the front rather than the back?

ETA: Nevermind... apparently I typed too slow and my question was already answered before it was asked haha.

I am hoarding all the sure-fits! I could also ship you one but I don't know what colors I have left...
I just saw this... thank you! I'm probably just going to order black. If you have one yo don't need, I'd buy it off you. Right now I'm looking at amazon but it's confusing on there. The listings are all kinda wrong, pictures don't match, sizes, etc, lol, so I'm hoping I get the right one when ordering from there. I have a $5 amazon gift card I kinda wanted to use... LOL

I'm not sure about other harnesses. I know the Easy Walk works that way, but I have never tried it with another harness.

I have tried clipping Tucker's leash to the front of his premier sure fit and did not like how it worked. Maybe the harness wasnt tight enough but I found it would get pulled out of place badly. It also did not turn him as well as his easy walk, probably because it slides over. I think that extra loop of fabric that causes the easy walk to tighten slightly when the dog pulls is helpful in turning the dog. So we stick with the easy walk for walks. I need to find a normal back clipping harness though, he hates the sure fit for some reason, won't let me near him when I have it and limps and swings his head around like it's bugging him. He doesnt do that with the easy walk but I don't like him wearing it on his tie out or at the park because I think it inhibits normal running. So for now he goes on a collar but I feel terrible when he hits the end of his long line on a collar.

I haven't had any issues walking Caleb with the leash clipped to the front of the Sure Fit (nor Mick before him, but I was using a harness on him because of health issues, and he had already been obedience trained). In fact, that's how Caleb was taught to walk on a leash without pulling. I will say, tho, it definitely depends on the dog and what the owner accepts.

I'm not sure what you mean by turning Tucker. If you mean making turns like corners, etc, it's a training thing. Come to think of it, if you mean turning him around towards you when he pulls, that's a training thing, too. I'm not trying to sound snarky- it's so much easier verbalizing what I'm trying to say then to type it.

I meant that normally, on the easy walk, when tucker pulls, the harness causes his body to turn around, towards me. That is one of the reasons it works so well, the dog doesnt want to be turned away from where he is going. We don't really use the harness for nomal pulling anymore, he has learned not to pull through training. However the reason he is still walked on it is because he is reactive towards dogs and sometimes people, so if he lunges it flips him away from what he's lunging towards, preventing his teeth from getting closer to their target (not that he's close enough to actually make contact normally, that mostly applies to when we have people over) but also causing a breif pause in reaction while he is turned towards me and an opportunity for me to get his attention.
