I used to use herbal essence which is really fragrant, so it was a little hard to get used to it not smelling strongly like jasmine rainbow ponies...but it definitely doesn't smell bad or like hair. It just smells like clean and powdery like a baby or something.

I also spritz perfume kind of over my head/hair sometimes.

I never thought about just using conditioner.. that's an interesting idea!

One thing I worry about is smell.. I don't want my hair to smell like.well..hair lol I want it to smell like flowers or whatever the heck else my shampoo smells like.

I may just try conditioner or try some more natural shampoo a bit less often! Stay tuned.
FWIW, I use conditioner just like I would shampoo.. like I put it on and "wash" my hair with it. Let it sit on there for awhile then brush my hair (in the shower) with a wide tooth comb.. that's the only time my hair gets brushed. I just use a cheapy conditioner for that some days, doesn't have to be the super expensive stuff. I also buy the 1 liter bottles of DevaCurl One Condition and Low Poo and that lasts me forrrrever.

My hair never smells bad, actually people comment all the time that it smells really good LOL.

Yeah I tried "no poo" for about a week and hated the way my hair looked. Like, I know it probably would have gotten better but I just couldn't handle it lol. But using conditioner as my shampoo has worked wonderfully. My hair still smells good and it feels/looks just as clean as it did when I used shampoo.

And for the most part I don't think shampoo is the issue per se... it's just the stuff that is IN most shampoos. So even a more natural shampoo would probably yield better results. I like to hit up the "ethnic hair care" aisle at Target lol I never knew it existed until recently, but sometimes they have really cool products! Kind of depends on your area though - like my local Target has a pretty lame selection, but the closer to the city you get, the more variety they seem to have.

So I thought you wouldn't be able to get the shampoo I use in the US. Apparently I was wrong:

I LOVE this stuff. :) It smells great too!
http://www.sante.de/en/produkte/family/family-shampoo/family-glanz-shampoo-bio-orange-und-coco/

I used their conditioner once.. though only after I had it on my head did I realize it had birch tree extract in it. (I'm really allergic.)

What helps my hair during heating season if it gets fizzy is putting argan oil in over night. Since I wash my hair (if I wash it) in the morning, I just put some in over night and then wash it out in the morning. I usually just put it on the roots because I hate having stuff in my hair after I washed it.

Full tirais

The best my hair has ever been was when I was using a natural shampoo bar from here http://www.etsy.com/shop/sweetcreekherbalcare?ref=ss_profile and rinsing with water I saved from boiling orange rinds. (I was making candied oranges and on a whim I poured all the water into a big jug to use on my hair) No conditioner nessasary and my hair was so soft and light and silky I could not stop touching it! Smelled great too!

Yes, I've tried Hair one,,wasn't bad, but things I didn't like about it,,only comes in 1 type, believe it was tea tree oil..(I like lavendar Wen) , also quite a small bottle that was around 12 bucks, and if you have longish hair you need ALOT...Other than that it wasn't bad and I would get it in a pinch

I get my WEN from QVC..

A conditioner I happen to like if you just want a conditioner with a good scent is Bath & Body Works, Sweet Pea...

Mmmm I want candied oranges now :9 lol

I have also heard good stuff about this wen stuff ... Do they make a conditioner? Or do you need one? I often need a conditioner because curly hair (at least mine) is always so dry.

I use Organix shampoo, and I rotate between their different scents each time. It is sulfate free, and I have noticed an overwhelming change in my hair. It is softer, cleaner, and stays that way for longer. I love it. I only wash my hair once every two or three days.

I would never go back to sulfate shampoo again.

Using conditioner only....this works phenomenally for my daughter. I use shampoo so so seldom on her hair. For me though, my hair is just in between enough that if I use conditioner only it gets funky.

I really wish the baking soda worked long term for me, it just doesnt. I get a good month or two of it being wonderful and then build up starts and blech:/

80's byllerat

for a while i thought tht it wasnt going to work for me either because my hair got all greasy & filmy & gross for a while, so for the conditioner "wash" I use a lighter conditioner, one for fine hair & those at least for me usually work better, because I am using conditioner all ready so i dont need a thick heavy one.

when i use shampoo (I typically shampoo once a week) then I use leave in. Garniea (or however you spell it) frutis makes a really good leave in, its in a small roundish green bottle with a pull up top like the tops on a dish washing liquid bottle & I have had really good luck with those.

Best selection of course is online. But most drugstores carry a couple that are...Burt's Bees and Organix come to mind (though still check the ingredient labels for sure)

I get mine either at Whole Foods or Target. Target has a nice selection for a big box store.

I have read on some "no poo" info sites that Suave is sulfate free, is this true? I will do more research, maybe we can start listing sulfate free shampoo/conditioner brands that can be found readily at places like Target & Walmart?

Loreal makes a sulfate free, as does Aveeno & Suave professionals.

for the "poo" days I have seen it recomended on the "no poo" sites to use baby shampoo, be warned though if you have color treated hair it will strip the color faster.
