Oh gosh...um...Cantonese Opera LP's and a album of The Platters (I was a toddler being dragged along to the store with my grandparents - does that count?). But my first tape was I think...a Sailor Moon soundtrack.

Alice Coopers Billion Dollar Babies album. I loved Alice Cooper when I was a kid. I had older brothers who spoiled me and always let me borrow their albums. I remember having a collection of 8 tracks too. Posters came with a lot of the albums and my father made me take down the one I had of Alice Cooper with a snake around his neck.

Hmmmmmm!!

The first one I remember buying was a tape of Jon Bon Jovi.. I think it was Always. That would have been 1994, and I would have been 13 so that makes sense!

I remember being given Kylie Minogue tape as a kid. I didn't like her. My favourite tapes were Smash Hits 1989 and my Timmy Mallet Tape LOL

OMG. Just youtubed Timmy Mallet.... MEMORIES!! He was a TV presenter here for kids TV and released an album in 1990. I LOVED it. Was proper corny.

Smash hits:

man, making me feel old lol. I was in highschool when Hanson came out :rofl1:
You can feel young again - the first record I bought was a Beatles 45rpm at the neighborhood Mays store. First album? Bill Cosby's Why is There Air? The only gift I can remember getting was James Taylor's Copperline CD.

Ok, so you made me dust out some mental cobwebs, LOL.

I'm sitting here thinking, "What? First tape/record/CD? I just passed my 50th birthday, how in the heck could I remember back THAT far?" Then... oh... wait.... There's something I remember that I don't talk about much, because people seem to think I'm suffering from some strange form of dementia when I do. I remember driving my Mom nuts, she HAD to buy a certain box of cereal (because, as a child of the 60's, we usually had either oatmeal or cream of wheat cooked on the stove, or in a pinch that Styrofoam-like puffed wheat they sold by the big-tush bag). Inside the box, stuck to the side, was a flexible plastic 45. Also in the box was a little Bobby Sherman doll. You put the 45 on the turntable and Bobby fit on the middle peg so that he "danced" while the record was playing.

So long answer short, Bobby Sherman.

*sigh*, made my poor parents call me Julie for months after that.
