Do you have any older males that are absolutely NOT aggressive - totally the opposite, and actually on the friendlier side.. ? I might be able to convince my roommate, especially if the ratty is a friendly-cuddle bug.. I have two rescue boys right now, and although I've had them neutered and worked with them, they are still awfully skittish - I would not want to put them through rough introductions, and as I'm scheduling a vet app. for my snuffly boy, that could be even more stressful. Aside those circumstances - because of their general temperament, it would just be terribly unfair to place them with an aggro ratter.

I believe North Star is actually where I adopted the pair I have now..
Happy to see you re-upped your post on GM, and people are reaching out :)

I am too far away to help, but I hope you're able to get them to the rescue :) 20 is a significant number!

And it looks like a few people on the rat forum want to adopt some, which is great!

Out of curiosity, though, is there a reason you said you have two jobs and just have failing grades on the rat forum post and said you lost your job here? The post also lists a higher number of rats. Accurate info is always helpful, particularly when trying to place pets :)

GM is a great forum and the members there have a lot of resources, particularly when it comes to rescue :) There are some reptile owners there as well, so they may be able to help you with the Beardie too:) (I cannot remember if they have a reptile section, so you may want to mention the reptiles in your post and then link to that post in their Random section.

the fact that seven was banned til APRIL for this is a bit ridiculous.
Worse things have been said on this forum. I think it's unfair that the ban hammer is brought down only when mods or certain mod-loved members get told things they don't want to hear.

But there is a lot of talk and hot topics and name calling and heated discussion that goes around chaz (all part of having opinions and all).. and I don't think it's very fair that some get banned and some don't based on what they say towards whom.
This.

I don't understand how, by calling somebody a hoarder, somebody gets banned for 3 months.

Bringing me into a thread (well, multiple, that I think get mod-slapped for) that I was not participating in, (Jessie, however, was) spreading a rumour that Jessie and I are lovers, and then telling me that I am killing my ferrets got like, a week. If that.
Is it bad that my first thought was that I want to see that thread? :rofl1: Because, you know, you and Jessie being lovers is totally plausible. It's not like she's in love with her husband or anything!

If this story is true, I hope that she can find a proper rescue to take those animals in, get a job and maybe help foster a few? This just isn't doable for one person who is unemployed and can't find any adopters.
This. Bre, you've spun some pretty tall tales. If not wholly untrue, then very hard to believe. Not recently, but it does hurt your credibility.

I do think you need to consider not only euthanizing however many very sick rats you have, but any that are aggressive, as well. I don't know if you mean aggressive towards other rats, or towards people/handling...or how easy it is to place a rat-aggressive rat in a home (not easy, from the sounds of it), but if the aggressive behavior, whether or not it will be fixed by a neuter, is going to hurt the rat's chances of adoption, it might be best to euthanize those rats and focus your energy on the ones that have a higher chances of becoming loved pets.
Also, this.

When you have limited funds you do what you can, and you make hard decisions. But you need to have a goal in mind: getting as many of the adoptable rats into adoption-ready condition as you can. Neutering males who are aggressive when it might not fix the aggro issues? Not a good way to spend donated money. Spaying female rats with tumors who probably wont get adopted? Definitely not a good use of money. Euthanize those who don't have a chance, or don't have a good chance. You'll be 4-5k in the hole on surgeries alone, never mind after care and feeding. Are you going to get 4-5k donated to you? Probably not. With the money you do have, please make responsible decisions for the good of the many.

When I posted the first time, I did have two jobs. One was a temp. job though, and then I lost this one, like I stated in this thread and the new post on the rat forum. Also stated on the latest thread on the rat forum and in one of my posts in this thread, two rescues in WA helped me cut my rattie population in half...

Um, excuse me? When have I "spun some pretty tall tales" on this forum? I'm not going to explain myself again about Pet Talk, so you can go read my reply to ihartgonzo's post if you'd like. I have never "spun some pretty tall tales" on this forum, so maybe you should get your facts straight.

Yeah ... Now I know the world ain't fair & I won't raise enough of a stink about this to call for change in the way this board is run ... I like the freedom that is allowed on here.

Though I have to admit, when I read "certain mod-loved members complain & people get banned" this I have to disagree with.

I went back & read SS's past posts (out of blatant curiosity mostly ) & I found nothing in them that was any worse then some of the things anyone else has said at one time or another.

I did read it. There was a lot that went on a few years ago that seemed unverified. Needless to say, we can both have differing opinions on your behavior on the forum - mine hasn't been perfect, either.

I hope you read the rest of my post, though, and take it into serious consideration. If you post a plan on how you are going to deal with this and give the vet's info, I am happy to donate and I think a lot of other people on here will be, too. Right now you're going about things in an illogical fashion and wont publicly post the vet's info. I don't think there are many here who are comfortable donating to a random paypal account over a vet.

No, I won't publicly post my vet's information on a forum. I will, however, give the information over PM. But the vet appointment is already over, the appointment was yesterday. There are people who donated, and THANK YOU SO MUCH to those people! One of my past adopters donated $200 - which was obviously a huge help. I won't be euthanizing any of the rats, as they are all very adoptable. I was able to get my vet to refill my past prescription for Baytril and Doxy and nebulizing medications, and the antibiotics have made a difference with the girl who wasn't responding to being nebulized. Baytril and Doxy are an amazing combination in fighting Myco and secondary infections, so hopefully it helps here. I don't believe I am going about things in an illogical fashion at all, and also do not believe you are in any place to say that. Anyway, I think I've taken steps in the right direction and to those of you who lent a hand, thank you so much! I do not, however, appreciate being called a hoarder or a liar, or being told I am going about things in an illogical fashion because I won't publicly post my vet's information on a public forum and because I won't euthanize perfectly adoptable rats. SO, those of you who need to get a hold of me, know how to get a hold of me, or can find out how to do so through Renee, because I won't be active on this forum anymore.
Bye, guys.
