Both of my girls know this one, forwards and backwards. So I'm going to skip instead. I've been told to skip during leg weaves for our freestyle routine because it looks flashier. Super excited to skip. :rofl1:

Frodo and I are having trouble with the backward. He doesn't know how to pivot around to me on a book, he will absolutely pivot to be right in front of me each time (too bad I'm not teaching fronts!), but will move a little to the side then start offering bows and other things on the book.

So I don't think I'm going to be getting backward weaves in this week, but we can hopefully get a pivot that reaches to heel position?

That's a good place to start. Do you want to do that as next week's trick?

Here's Zuma's video for this week!

So I worked on a couple of things. Adding a skip to our forward leg weaves, the whole process is in the video. She was a little "wtf?" at first, but then realized it wasn't a big deal.

I also worked a bit on smoothing out her reverse leg weaves, I think it will be a work in progress for a while though. Still a little choppy for my liking. I threw a little reverse figure 8's in there too.

I keep meaning to post my video for this - I think I've split it down TOO much for Payton. I'm rewarding him for leg wraps but he's wrapping my legs the same direction rather than getting close to a figure 8, I'm not 100% sure how it's going to reach that as the final product. Auggie is better at luring so when I toss the cookie he follows the cookie and is getting the figure 8 down more. Payton is more likely to pop out from wherever he is and nab the cookie rather than just follow straight to the cookie, so it's not working out like I'd hoped. Hmm... we'll keep working on it.

Here's a short video of our first session - my video editor likes to randomly drop out audio sometimes and it does here, but unfortunately not during Auggie's session when Payton was in the background throwing a temper tantrum and Auggie was barking at me because that's what he does:

LOL at Auggie's "it's spin THEN leg weave yes?"

Continuing to work on it with Pay, this was for his dinner so I only did one dog:

So right now Payton thinks the trick is "go around the leg, through the leg, place feet on foot and PIVOT BUTT." *facepalm* We are working towards adding "go back through the legs" and I'm hoping once he gets that down he will decide pivoting isn't the fastest way to get there, therefore he will stop pivoting...

I'm thinking I'm changing this to the "Trick of the Two Weeks", just because I feel like we are rushing through these and the interest is waiving. So, I will post a new trick on Saturday, but in the mean time, I want to see those leg weaves!!!
