Simply put, I think I'm going go get one. Which one should I get? Is it worth getting the new one or the 3 or something?

How many gig is best? 3g/4g enabled or just WiFi??

I have the iPad 2 with wifi only. It wasn't worth it to me to have to pay for service since I'm on wifi 99% of the time while I'm using it. I have my iPhone for when I'm not on wifi. Oh yeah, and it's 32gb.

My main reason for getting it was traveling. It's much easier (and cheaper if it gets lost/stolen!) to travel with my iPad versus my laptop.

I want one as I tend to browse on my phone more than I do my laptop! Only use my laptop for tasks like banking or shopping. But for browsing I sit on my phone!

So.... That sounds sensible... Don't need mobile net as I have my phone.

That's how I am, too. It's so much easier to browse on the iPad rather than my laptop.

If you have an iPhone, you don't need the 3g/4g, you tether the WiFi iPad to the iPhone, use like a modem.

This.
I have the 2.. boyfriend has the 3, and frankly the only time you see a difference with the retina display is when we watch movies on it really (which is very rarely other than on long bus rides)

I got the wifi only. As it is, I'm either at school, home, on the train or at the airport with my ipad.. all places with free wifi lol so I figured it wasn't worth the cost.

Mostly.. I use it for books and travel (when my laptop is too bulky) and it does that job very well.

What gig is best? Will 16 be enough?

I've seen the iPad 4, WiFi only, 16gb for £399. Which is less than I thought it'd be.

Would importing from the US be cheaper, or would it be about the same by the time you pay any import taxes on it?

The Apple online store generally has refurbs (with warranties- the batteries and outer shells are brand new) for under $300 for the iPad 2. A friend of ours just bought one a couple of weeks ago.

Here's the link. Right now, the only ones on there probably wouldn't be worth the hassle of getting them to the UK, though.

http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals/ipad

Anyway, I think 16gb would be fine if your main usage is browsing the internet and downloading apps! The only things that take up space on mine are books, music, and apps. I don't use it for importing photos or anything, so I doubt I've even come close to the 32gb mine has.

Well, I bought the wifi only, 32gb ipad 4 :D

Soo excited for it to arrive now!

Funny thing, I called my mum to ask about her ipad, and she was very cagey. Turns out they had bought me a nexus 7 for christmas already!!!! I was a bit gutted I'd ruined their surprise, but they said they were more than happy to return it and give me the money towards an ipad if that's what I wanted :D

And the other half said he's put money towards it for xmas too, so it's only costing me about £150 really... couldn't NOT get one at that price!!

Now I have to wait to see if it will get here before xmas day.............. I hope so!! I got the white ipad, and a purple leather case for it! GADGETS!!!!

What are the must have apps for it?? I'm on android on my phone, so excited about getting apple apps. I want to watch films on it I think, for when I'm away.

Hurry up santa!!!

As an Android user, on both phone and tablet, Im interested in your review of the iPad after a week or so of having it.

Im not an Apple fan in anyway shape or form. The iPad and other 9-10.1" devices all just seem too large to me. Even the iPad Mini seems to wide for my tastes.

Im assuming you are a Windows user on the PC level, so Im even more interested in your review of the iPad.

I've nothing Apple, and my other half hates Apple, so I'm more interested to see what he thinks of it!

I think they're very clever... They are all about the money but the reviews are excellent, and I'm not tech savy enough to need something that has tons of flexibility... I get no benefits out of having a fancy phone with loads of storage, I barely use it to its potential... Just browse facebook and chaz and send the odd text!

I know this is late, but if your android phone has tether/ hot spot capabilities, you can use your phones data for the iPad.

Like, today I was running a netbook, iPad, iPhone and xbox360 from my android data :p

I've read that, and yes my phone does - I have the HTC one X :)

I don't think it will be delivered before xmas going by the dispatch dates, but the store reviews often commented on how early things arrived, so fingers crossed!!

As an Apple hater myself Ild be interested in his review as well.

Once I get my data and contacts off of my HTC Desire, Im sending it to my 1 year niece as a toy/learning device.
