I really honestly have no idea what to call my puppy haha. I had an entire list of names but none of them seem right or good enough for her at all. Possibly because I had a different puppy breed in mind for those names, but it was supposed to be just a generic 'future puppy names' list. I'm kind of thinking Tehya (tay-uh) or River, but I dunno... I don't love them for this puppy. I like them, but not sure if they're her.

I've only personally ever named two dogs in my life (Dance and Tango) but for some reason this puppy is turning out to be harder to name than either of those two.

As far as what I like:

- Short (or easily shortened), preferably 1 syllable which is really hard or 2 at most.

- Different and not something you're likely to run into often or ever.

- I usually prefer sharp sounding letters (T, D, K, maybe P)

As far as her personality: She's really happy and wiggly, very confident, super smart and eager, likes to be very busy, likes to demand bark (I was warned not to encourage that!). And of course, she's also the prettiest Aussie puppy ever. ;)

I also have to come up with a registered name and here are the specifications:

choose a registered name for your puppy that reflects what the puppy's role is with you or what you and your puppy are going to enjoy doing together - try to make it imply action, a job or just fun. We feel like that shows off these puppies' personalities more.
The theme had been something different but was changed last night. We also only have a small number of characters to work with (13) because of the kennel names that need to be included. The registered name is even harder for me than the call name, so I'd really like suggestions for that!

And because pictures might be necessary and I can't help but share, here is who we are trying to name:

Haha apparently this is blurry for a reason her breeder says!

I also want the name to be good because this will be a performance puppy. Who knows how far we'll get, but I want to try all kinds of things with her. And I talked to her breeder yesterday and decided I am going to give conformation a try again too. A friend of mine told me of some great classes where I might actually learn something so I don't hate conformation showing, and quite by accident I also seem to have found a great dog sport club that I didn't know existed and the people there are experienced in everything and actually use training methods I believe in. So I'll have lots of support and people to help us learn! My other plans for her are Obedience, Rally and Agility, and most of all just being my fun little take anywhere and everywhere buddy. Fun fact: She was also born on my birthday and that makes me really happy for some reason haha.

But anyway, please help! Otherwise puppy stands a good chance at this point of remaining nameless forever haha.

For some odd reason to me she looks like a Raven and a good call name to go with it would something Black Bird

I like Pip. I thought of Whim--maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like this pup materialized on a whim (I thought you were going in a different direction before)

Whim is cute!!

But I love Tehya and River a lot! I had River on a short list for Violet. And Tehya is really cute and could be spelled Taya, Tayah, Teya, Teyah (I like Taya).

I really dig the name "Veela"... then both you and Fran can have HP related names, and also your pup is *super* pretty, so it fits! :D

Thanks for the suggestions, guys! I wrote down my favourite ones and will pass them by the family tonight and see what they say. Not that it matters too much, but I do want them to like whichever name I choose. My brother keeps voting for Rhea for some reason, which I don't care for, but it's the only time he's actually ever given input on a dog's name before.

I thought of Whim actually. But then I think of this really annoying cartoon character called Whimsy that my brother used to watch all. the. time. as a kid LOL. I do like it, though. And this particular puppy was sort of decided on a whim when I changed my mind about the other puppy/breed.

Oh! I like Whim or Piper a lot
Can't do Piper. Had a foster (almost keeper) that we called Piper and I don't like using the same name over again. I kind of wish we hadn't used it though because I think it might be a good name for this pup.

Haha I think I'm probably the only person on Chaz that just could never get into HP. I only know like four characters' names. :rofl1:

I also thought of the name "Pip", or even "Pippa".. I've always loved that name for an Aussie, it was on my list back when my mom was still on the Aussie boat. (until she changed her mind to a smaller breed)

Hm, I have a very long list of short, trying to be hardish puppy names for futurepuppy.
Jackie, Greta, Tak, Peach, Rita, Fina (ha, one off from her puppy name), Lottie, and Jet are some of my ones I am probably not using that I think could suit your puppy IMO!
Personally, I think she'd make an adorable Greta.

Yes, I have a page and half of puppy names...

Caprice means almost the same as whim, and it meets the hard sound requirement.

I knew a girl in junior high named Caprice--it fit her quite well!

I thought I was the only one!

I think Whim is cute!

I could also see her as an Abby. I like the name Kit as well, and Elle (pronounced "L").

She is SO cute! She was my favorite in that litter from the start :)
