I didn't post this in "News", because not everyone reads stuff there, and this NEEDS TO BE SEEN and people NEED TO SPEAK OUT!

Once again, a trigger happy cop can't wait to use his gun on a defenseless dog.

WARNING: The video is graphic. However, it needs to be watched. The truth behind these incidents needs to be seen, and these cops need to be dealt with!

Here's the video with the news report:

Here's the uncut video showing ALL of what happened:

This has been going around FB.. it's disgusting.

Here's the press release from the city: http://www.c3gov.com/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=577

Vicious dog my ass.. sat there for 30min. doing nothing while the police & AC officer stood around trying to figure out what to do. Anyone with common sense would realize that if a dog was vicious, it wouldn't just sit there while people stood 6' away from it.

"The dog remained very agitated and continued to be unpredictable."
Uh yeah, if you got tased you'd probably be agitated too, or try to run, which is what this dog did.

There's a petition: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/m/88...police-responsible-for-shooting-harmless-dog/

And a FB page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Justice-for-Chloe-Dog-shot-by-Commerce-City-Co-Police/

If I had been tazed for sitting calmly for over 30 minutes, I'd be in pain and confused, too, which would make me try to get away from those causing it. This dog did NOTHING wrong. And you can even see how upset the AC officer was at the actions of the cop.

The dog was backing away from them, it was clearly scared. I am sickened by this. So glad the neighbor caught it on tape.

Wonder how long it's going to take before the neighbor is charged for taping it. More and more jurisdictions are making it illegal to video or audiotape cops.

At the very least, I'll bet the neighbor starts getting harassed. :(

I will say, that it I had been that neighbor, I'd have ran an intervene while continuing to videotape.

"The dog was temporarily being housed at this location by the owner’s relative. She was charged with numerous violations, including vicious animal and the pit bull violation.

In 2010, the police department was involved in another shooting involving a vicious dog. That incident also was portrayed poorly by the media, although a jury later determined the officers’ actions were justified. Since that incident, all members of the Commerce City Police Department, including the officers on scene of this incident, attended mandatory training on dog encounters. This training included how to approach dogs and how to read their behavior.

This is on their website. Who the hell is training these people how to read dog behavior? And the 'pit bull' violation? I don't know what that is but that dog did not look like any kind of pit bull to me. Anyone know what the charges actually mean? I would like to see what the owner and dog sitter have to say about this. What an awful surprise. I really don't understand this situation. I'm not sure what an 'investigation' would reveal. Dog is in garage. Dog gets cornered by police and animal control for 30 MINUTES? Dog gets tased. Dog tries to run, is caught and shot at FOUR? times. That's ridiculous.

The FB page isn't working for me, but I signed the petition. I hope this makes a difference.

And that's where USDAA agility chose to hold their 2012 nationals. Uh huh.

Wow. Don't really know what else to say. Disgusting, that dog is not doing a single thing that looks "aggressive."

If the police are going to be the ones to respond to dog calls, then they need to get some decent training in dog behavior. I usually give police a pretty big benefit of the doubt, but this is just reprehensible. A dog who sits there while they stand around trying to decide what to do, then clearly tries to run away after being caught with the catch pole, is not a vicious dog.

Angry.

Yeah I know a couple people who were qualified and decided not to go because their dogs are of the general "bully" type. Just wasn't worth the risk. I cannot for the life of me understand why USDAA would decide to hold their premier event at such a location.
