I really don't care if people say Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays or whatever. What I DO care about is that they aren't allowed to post anything in stores saying Merry Christmas, but every other holiday that's encompassed in Happy Holidays is allowed to be spewed out and posted everywhere in said stores.

I'll bet this isn't the first time Michael's done this . . .
No its not.
And the last time when he hit a woman in the FACE and left a very visible mark, he only got 24 months probation. Oh and that was WITH Child Endangerment 3rd degree. 24 months for hitting a woman in the face and for his kid witnessing it.
****ing ridiculous.

ETA: You can bet your ass, when I can, I am moving the hell away from here.

Does the children's mother know what he did to you -- in front of HER kids?

Be careful, and do your best to never be alone.
Yes they know. Both of his boys where there and both of their moms know. But they don't care.

I am never alone anyways, and this definitely will only make me be more cautious.

Those poor kids . . . and it will be a miracle if they don't grow up and not know how to have a healthy -- and non-violent -- relationship.
His 9 year old already has anger issues. He can get down right mean, and I've seen him get violent but only once. He pushed his uncle (michael's brother) so hard he landed on me and flipped me out of a recliner. Yea kid is strong and has a VERY short fuse, like his dad.

I am just so mad that NOTHING is being done. NOTHING.

Sounds like my sister. :(

You have good reason to be extremely angry about it.

I agree with this. I don't understand why you are allowed to say anything except merry Christmas. Thats not "Fox news" speaking. There people who get upset with happy holidays and there are JUST as many who get downright indignant if you say Christmas

I'm thankful when someone says Happy Anything to me- at least they're being friendly!

I've had so many shopping experiences where the cashier/sales person just grunts or mumbles something. If Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa puts people in a better mood and makes them want to wish people a merry/happy whatever, that's great.

I generally say "happy holidays," but sometimes "Merry Christmas" will slip out. Hopefully people acknowledge it as the sincere greeting it is regardless of what they celebrate. I can't always be politically correct no matter how hard I try :p

I believe a lot of it is reaction -- on both sides -- to each other.

And yes, it seems ridiculous to me.

Whatever you call it, whether it's a holiday or a holy day or both, and no matter what beliefs you approach it from, it's meant to be a time of peace and generosity and coming together.

Not fighting over who gets to name it

Yes I think the whole politically correct movement has only served to make us all utterly intolerant of everyone else. I miss the days where you could say " good day" and it was taken as it was said instead of "well what did he mean by that... Must have been sinething offensive. What if i'm not having a good day"

And what happens if the person you say "happy holidays" to doesn't celebrate ANY holidays? What if they take offense to the fact you insinuated they're celebrating something? Maybe we shouldn't say anything at all.

Or if you tell someone that they look nice today...

"What do you mean by that? So I didn't look nice yesterday?"

I take compliments as compliments and I'm just happy when people are friendly to me rather than rude.

Mom kicked me out cause we were arguing about this Michael ****.
She wouldn't leave me alone after I told her twice to go away, I told her not to follow me to my room, and then I told her to get out of my face, and she wouldn't so we continued to argue.
When I say LEAVE ME ALONE how ****ing hard is it to just LEAVE ME ALONE????!!!?? Didn't think it was rocket science. So now I am going to move back in with daddy and I can't finish school and I only have 3 weeks left.

When it rains it ****in pours.

I'm so nervous :(

My brother, his two kids and his pup are moving in later this week or next week.

I'm worried about Serenity, her issues, those kids. How much more on the ball I'll have to be. I hope she adjusts, I really do. I feel bad for her.

Poor Sunny. All my time was taken up by Serenity. He gets attention, just not as much. It's not fair for him there is another dog around for me to pay attention to. The kids are also a tad afraid of Sunny so I'll have to chain him up when the kids are out. He's fine with them but he will jump around and bark if they have toys.

Leo. I'll have to socialise him, train him, walk him and feed him. My brother won't. I don't want to get involved but I also can't see him everyday and do nothing. My brother would feed him but he free feeds so ya, no. I'll just feed Leo when I feed my guys.

Working with three dogs will be so much work, one has issues, ones a puppy and Sunny is easy thankfully. I'm just scared.

I hope to god this all works out.

O... And let's not forget.. All my free time is out the window almost. I also have to see the kids everyday. I am not a kid person. Sigh. At least I'll watch them grow and bond with them.

I say Merry Christmas at work. Why? Because its what comes naturally to me, its what we say to family members because its what we celebrate. Luckily, I have yet to have anybody complain to me or my boss. So far, they've all smiled and said it back. And honestly, if somebody said Happy (insert other holiday here), I'd probably smile and say it back to them, because that's probably what THEY celebrate

Right. I don't say "Merry Christmas to snub anyone or anything like that. I say it because it's all I've ever known LOL it's how I was raised, it's what I have always said and it just never occurs to me to say something else until someone makes a complaint about it. Old habits and all that lol.

I've never seen any other holiday publicly displayed in the States, and especially not in the South. I dared say Happy Yule once. People gave me bibles for Christmas. But definitely never in stores, never any sale promotions with them, never see any decorations or anything.

I say Happy Holidays. I find it more considerate and all-encompassing and less selfish than thinking, "Well, *I* celebrate this so *I* matter and *I* am going to say what *I* celebrate".

That's a pretty selfish way to look at things. And it's a heck of a lot easier just to say Happy Holidays instead of sitting there debating on who's holiday matters more. Yours or theirs. It's an act of tolerance, and I definitely appreciate those who go out of their way to think for others on that. I've had more people who say "Merry Christmas" roll their eyes at me when I say "Happy Holidays" than any other group of people. It's definitely a selfish thing, IMO. Just like throwing religion or any other personal belief around. Not everyone celebrates they way you do. There's no need to go spewing it every where like there's some great contest to be won.

That's not what this time is supposed to be about. (Or any time for that matter, but for some reason people like picking and choosing when they'd like to act considerate.)
