People seriously frustrate me

Today was the opening for rifle deer season out here. Josh went hunting (didn't get anything today) and when he was out there he and his hunting buddy found a pile of 5 dead doe. A hunter that was in the area earlier had killed them, stripped off the good meat and left everything else on the 5 doe there to rot.

I'm all for hunting. My husband hunts, my friends hunt and I really want to be able to hunt with Josh at some point... but I am NOT for killing and leaving so much to waste like that.

With whatever deer Josh may tag this season we are planning to use as much as we possibly can. Meat for us, meat, organs, etc for the dogs, the skin leather will be tanned and used as well as I will more than likely use the skull for another one of my painted skull projects (not sure if you guys remember the painted cow skull).

Dang that's wasteful. :( Was it fresh enough for him to snag some for the dogs at least? I can't believe how jerkish some people are. It's not like they were even trophies. The only reason you'd shoot a doe is for the meat.

That is a crappy thing to do but I am willing to bet it doesn't go to waste. The critters will find it all and get their fill. Most of it will likely be consumed by the local wildlife

what do you mean by good meat?

i don't think it is wanton waste so much as ignorance. most people don't know how to use everything & even less of how to get it off the carcass.
the no gut butcher is common in the south because what's left behind requires a bit of skill to make tasty.

Hopefully some hungry coyotes or something will come by and score themselves an awesome free meal.

This.

I wonder what kind of meat was left? Honestly leaving the skin, guts, and heads doesn't bother me that much. I guess I would like every part to be used but in the end it goes back to nature.

Not as 'wasteful' as the deer carcass I found on the back line of our property last year with just the head/neck missing. Trespassing jerks.

This. Local wildlife will consume it... which is no more wasteful than your dogs consuming it.

That's so bizarre. I've never seen anyone do anything other than the field dressing where they leave the guts behind but take the rest of the carcass to be processed.

Here they are overpopulated so badly I don't mind. They talk about doin kills and the public crys about it yet complains that they are skinny and in their yard and jumping in front of their cars.

Hunters know better so I wonder if its just someone wanting the meat and dumping. Obviously them hunting= hunter but you know what I mean.

It's most bothersome when people are hunting just for sport and killing inappropriate kills, because they think ecological research is bunk, and leaving everything. I would be pissed seeing just the head removed, that is wasteful and not worth an unnatural end to a life.

I was just talking to a hunter/butcher yesterday while picking up his scraps and he mentioned that to dispose of the scraps properly/legally here, they charge $60 a bag to pick up and dispose. I thought that was pretty crazy! So he was happy to give them to us for free.

Wow, but great incentive to give them to raw feeders!

Meh, I really don't have a problem with that. Other animals are going to eat then anyways so I am pretty sure it is not going to waste and I don't see that any different that feeding it to the dogs.

The guys Tyler hunts with throws the carcass to the dogs once they are done butchering the animal and taking what they want. The dogs even play and eat with the hide and head.

Now I do have a problem with people hunting on land that they have no permission to hunt on and taking animals fast right off the road so its easy and fast to get the hell outta there before they get caught. I also have an issue with people disposing the animals body on private property. So many times have we found deer legs and carcasses in my field because hunters are too lazy to find some crown land to dispose of the body.
