So in light of the election, news, current events, and politics I thought I would ask what all your favorite news stations, magazines, shows, news people, online news sources etc are.
So basically, who do you like, trust, go to for your news.
Greg Palast is one. Gregg Easterbrook. Usually, though, I'll google and read several accounts, starting with the most local and timely and work my way forward from there. If it's political stuff, I try to find the origins -- the actual speech, etc., or I look at the records of the individual politicians. Most of the time their rhetoric doesn't match up very well with their records. Big shock, hmmm?
The Debka site is usually interesting, and it often breaks news weeks before it's seen in any of our more regular sources.
I tend to have msnbc/cnn on during the day. I also really really like Rachel Maddow and record her show daily.
For magazines I've been reading The Week for years which is kinda a compilation from all around the world of news articles on all subjects and does a lot of different views and takes on the same subject.
For Radio it's NPR and online it's pretty much anything. I look at google news a lot, different articles from all different sources that friends and pages post.
And for my fun news it's definitely Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert.
They just make everything better. No matter how bad of mood I'm in I can't help sitting in the livingroom and laughing like a crazy person when watching them. And half the time they don't even need to speak.
I read BBC News on my phone before classes to get a recap of world events and serious stuff. I love Anderson Cooper on CNN just because he's an awesome anchor. Jon Stewart is definitely my go-to for fun news as well, and politcal news. I watch Rachel Maddow with my dad when I'm at home, but that's more for entertainment, (though I really think she's brilliant).
I try to go to as many sources as possible. I don't really watch news on TV and we do not have cable. I catch bit and pieces from being out and about though I will usually leave or turn away if its FOX, unless I am looking for a specific story to see how they will spin it.
I do also listen to NPR off and on, but most is from random online sources.
On the radio? Lol funny, my mom used to listen to NPR while she drove me to school, so I sometimes really love listening while I'm working or studying.
On TV? CNN mostly. Well, anything except fox. Not sure why they let those bigots on television.
