Lol... I'm a bit new to this forum, but I did want to jump in and add a few things.
I've been working with rescues for a large portion of my teen and adult years, and many of them ARE very rescue-nazi. They're very very determined to be the solution to the overpopulation problem, or the stray-problem, etc. And they really aren't, they're helping, yes, but they aren't the solution either.
I can only foster occasionally, as I'm a renter, and live in a townhouse - so it strongly depends on where I'm living, my landlord of the time, and even(as is currently the problem), when I'm on medical leave. So when I stop fostering for a while, rescue workers flip out on me, guilt-trip me about dying dogs, and other blanket statements and slander, and make me feel like crap for stopping for a SHORT period of time, even though I can still help out with adoption events, fundraising, training, walking, sitting, etc. So... I hear ya, and I've been into rescue for YEARS!
All my current dogs/animals are all rescues too... But I fully intend for my next dog to be from a breeder(still stuck between breeds, but have a good breeder already if I go with one of them), so I must be a murderer too.
Also, my current rescue Beagle, Charlie, is not neutered - so many rescues automatically condemn me, unless they've worked with me personally. Due to his epilepsy and other reasons, I opted to not neuter him. However, I DO take the necessary precautions to ensure he never gets loose and never breeds with another dog. Been there, done that, and he's not hard to handle my any means. But I'm apparently adding to the dogs in the shelter automatically, because he SOMEHOW, without getting loose, or near an intact female, managed to knock up some dog that I don't know about, or at least that's how such people view it..
