Thanks guys. I'm a little better today.

I just got off the phone with my mom. She said my step dad still really wants to be a part of my life and that they are going to try to be civil with each other since there will be times they see each other, i.e when/if my sister or brother get married or if any of us have babies etc.

We were supposed to go down to GA for Thanksgiving with them. I'm not positive if we are still going to go now though.

I have several friends who's parents went through a divorce while their children are now adults. It was upsetting for them. More so then they had expected, and it took them awhile to wrap their minds around it, and then they had to be there to help their parents adjust to single life. It is never easy, not when your a child and your parents split, but not when your grown too. IT becomes more difficult when your parents age and now your torn in two separate directions helping two parents who if they are still alone, need you even more. I feel for you and send ((((((((HUGS)))))))))).

Thank you so much.

I just texted my step dad asking him if I can call him tonight. I talked to my mom again this morning, but I really need to talk to him. Even though I'm better about it this morning, this is still hard. It does help that I don't live with them anymore and pretty much have my own adult life, but it's still rough to have your parents split. When my mom and biological dad divorced I was much younger and only remember bits and pieces though it affected a lot of things growing up, figuring visitation, holidays etc. Now my family will be split into three. Josh's family is split into two families. I have no idea how we are going to figure out holidays and who to see/not see. Guess we will cross that bridge when we get there.
