Oops, didn't mean to post this yet, didn't give my examples!

(All of these at work, of course.)

First we have the guy who runs into the store and proclaims "I just got a Golden Receiver" Hmm, sure ya did.

Who can forget the Belgium Maligua?!

And today who did we have in? Well a Great Dane/Belgian Malimuse. Seriously. Secondly, highly doubt it by looking at the dog, at least the Dane part.

Oh, and it's a Papillon, not a Papillllllon, with a hard L. Dummy.

This is by far one of my biggest pet peeves.

don't forget the 'rockwilder' ....... LOL And I was guilty of asking a cop inspecting the bus I was on once if his dog was a malin-was?!? How embarrassing - I knew better but it just didn't come out that time!

Dash-hound.

Actually as much as I laugh when people can't pronounce their breed, if I ever get a Berger Picard I think I'll be doomed to forever butcher the pronunciation.

Argh! Drives me nuts too!
If I see one more ad for Roddie's, Chiwawa's or shitsoo's!
Seems Roddie's are a very popular breed around here! All pure bread off course, wouldn't have them another way!

LOL I always look like an idiot when pronouncing a dog's breed or even recognizing them. My first language is Spanish and I know most of the breeds in Spanish, it's really annoying when trying to have a conversation with a fellow dog lover and I don't even know what dog he has even though I DO know the breed in Spanish.

Best ever comment (though a little OT), someone I know was walking a relative's Dachsund, and a passerby said, "is that a Datsun?"

So my friend said, "I think he's too young to be a Datsun, he's a Nissan."
BEST QUOTE EVER!!!!! :rofl1::rofl1::hail::hail:

I especially love it when *breeders* can't pronounce (or spell- I've met many chiwawa breeders ) their breed's name.

These are killing me, lol! The funniest one I've experienced is when I got asked if I had a "German Sheffard." Did they think the "ph" in "shepherd" is like "phone" or something? I guess it cracked me up because I thought out of all dog breed names, "shepherd" was one that people would know, especially as it has meaning outside of dog breeds; it's not a word you won't encounter unless you're talking dogs. Plus, you run into it with Aussies, Dutchies, etc., not just GSDs. (Oh, and to note, this was a distant relative who's lived his whole life in the US with English as his first language.)
I've of course had "rockwilders." That one does make me want to start throwing rocks.

Ps Mali - noise is a perfectly acceptable alternative name.

For example: Today at dock dogs everyone knew exactly when a Mali - noise was approaching the dock, even if they couldn't see the dock.

:)
