Well, that's the fun thing about Romney. He can't seem to ever keep his story straight.

It's hard to figure out what he's going to do when he doesn't even seem to know himself. :p

Thanks for being honest.

I have no problem with 'universal' health care systems in the United States... As long as its the STATES that enact them. Just know that "free" health care is pretty expensive...
This.

Tennessee enacted TennCare years ago. It was a total ballsup in the first go-round; the care was abysmal, doctors refused to take TennCare patients, and it nearly bankrupted the state. There was a lot of "oh, we must institute a state income tax" talk.

Well, that didn't wash.

Bredesan got elected governor and the second thing he did (the first was a promise to fire the corrupt head of TDOT as soon as he was sworn in -- which he did) was dismantle and completely re-vamp the system. It seems to be working fairly well now, or it was when Bredesan's second term was up. I've never understood why he hasn't been asked to serve as an advisor to any of the federal health care study committees.

Agreed that its up in the air as to the "Romney" we get. What I do know is President Obama's vision for our country and I do not want any part of his pseudo socialist system. Sure, he speaks about freedom. HA. As usual, I beg you... Read his books. Stop listening the media and learn who this man is, what motivates him. Maybe that part about how the Constitution is broken because it does not redistribute wealth... Etc....

I'll take a Romney who cares about what people think and ran as a conservative over an Obama who could care less and is clearly frustrated by the process of our Republic.

I wouldn't say Romney cares about what people think....especially since he's all for removing women's rights, removing student loans, removing funding for education, and dividing our country with hatred-based views such as gays shouldn't be allowed to marry or have kids.

I can understand NOT liking Obama...but there are going to be at least 3 other people on the polls.

<sigh> REMOVING student loans? REMOVING womens rights? REMOVING funding for education?

And how I am TIRED of being called "hateful" because of my views on homsexuality, because hate has ZERO to do with it. You may call it hate because its not congruent with your idea of "tolerance". But it is NOT hate. I'm done letting the other side define this conversation.

Come on Lyzelle.... You are better than this level of bullcrap.

"Think my way or you are EVIL and HATEFUL." Where in history have we heard that before?

Right, who have zero change of making an impact. While its fun to live a dream, I prefer to deal in reality.

I think telling someone who they can and can't marry when they are in love and their choice isn't effecting you AT ALL is most certainly hateful and the desire to do that comes out of a dark place.

Sorry, I don't believe in anything less than tolerance. I don't believe removing rights has anything to do with tolerance, either. Religion simply isn't a good excuse to alienate others from their rights as human beings. I know it's been done for centuries...with women, blacks, and now gays. But I don't agree with it, and I do not believe it should be part of our government. And no, I don't believe that I should be "better than to believe that". I think YOU should be better than that, and rise above such archaic thinking. And dictating what a woman can do with her body, the medications or healthcare she can receive is definitely getting rid of rights. Also education.

But hey, he's all for more money in military, right? But totally wants to lower their pay and still "maintain the same efficiency". All about stomping through foreign countries and insulting them publicly. All about taxing the middle classes for money, and then giving tax breaks to big companies. He believes in "trickle down theory", and never in history has that theory worked. It didn't work when Bush was in office, either.

Right, who have zero change of making an impact. While its fun to live a dream, I prefer to deal in reality.
And its that sort of logic that is exactly WHY they have no chance. The masses don't bother with them, therefore the media and politics for them get shoved aside because it's "not what the people want". It's amazing how a WOMAN is running for president, but it's getting shoved to the side because, "Oh, well, it's not what people care about".

Sorry, I don't believe in anything less than tolerance.
Except for my faith, apparently. If you understood the truth about my faith, you would know that I defend living by it because I LOVE my fellow man.

Rights as human beings.... That begs the question as to where our rights come from. Its an important part of this discussion. What do you think?

And no, I don't believe that I should be "better than to believe that". I think YOU should be better than that, and rise above such archaic thinking.
Lyzelle, I am about 20 years older than you. Been around the world, done a lot of things. So please spare me the idea that my thinking is "archaic". What these years have taught me is that the idea that man is on his own, that we can do it by ourself is absurd. I thought as you do when I was young too....

Further, you show, again, that you do not understand my faith. Rather you see it as the secular humanist needs to see it. It has to be evil, else your world view falls apart.

I LOVE this creation. My life was a mess until I started living as best I can the way God showed us. Since then, my life has been better than I could have possibly hoped for.

And dictating what a woman can do with her body, the medications or healthcare she can receive is definitely getting rid of rights. Also education.
This comes back to the idea of rights and where they come from....

But hey, he's all for more money in military, right? But totally wants to lower their pay and still "maintain the same efficiency". The only thing ill address here is military spending... It kinda is one of the few things the Constitution requires of the federal government.

Give me an example of trickle UP working. Adam Smith got it right 236 years ago. Too bad we can't still have that model.

And its that sort of logic that is exactly WHY they have no chance. The masses don't bother with them, therefore the media and politics for them get shoved aside because it's "not what the people want".
I never said I was happy that 3rd parties were not relevant. But we do agree on this point.

A large majority of the masses don't care to pay attention... So we get what we deserve I suppose.

My life has taught me that the first line of my signature is true. Ill not apologize for that.

Good night. :)

Trickle UP doesn't exist. But when you have a happy middle class they SPEND. The wealth spreads. When there is no money to spend, no class is going to get any money.

And your age or religion does not make you any better or smarter a person. Nor does it give you any "right" to alienate others via laws, as I said. It's actually people like you that give Christians a bad name. Not everyone is Christian, and not everyone should be forced to believe what you believe and refuse others the right to which they were born - to love.

Can anyone show an example of trickle down working?

Since the 80s average savings are down. You have far more two worker families.

Companies like Walmart are making MASSIVE profits. What is trickling down from them? The company pays about minimum wage, has a largely part time workforce, and has a rather poor insurance plan (dropping it entirely for part time workers recently). The owners are among the richest people in the world but it does not seem to be reaching their workers.

This honestly drives me nuts. It is not being intolerant of your faith to give gays the right to marry. It is saying you have your faith, GREAT! But you dont get to determine others faiths, others love, others rights based on your faith.

In regards to a previous post;

I've spent quite a bit of time in the US on holidays, etc. The few bucks saves on a case of beer does not compare to the knowledge that should I ever need an MRI, a life-altering surgery or extensive treatments, it will all be covered.

I really just can't imagine having to put off medical care at the prevention level to save a few bucks until it requires treatment, and then not being able to afford that treatment. My health, and the health of my loved ones, just doesn't have a dollar sign.

All the social issues... Oh how I wish they were the most important right now. It is really about the economy now and Obama's plan has zero basis in reality. Both of the major candidates are accomplished liars. But at least Romney knows how to actually create wealth, rather than just spread it around.

A vote for the lesser evil is still a vote for evil.
All nice and good if your state lets you vote for a third party. Not all of us can.

Where do human rights come from?
Where ever you think they come from. Which I have a feeling this is obviously going to turn into a "GODGODGODOMGGODGODGOD" discussion. As it always seems to when you two get involved.

This country is free from religious prosecution. It should stay that way. This is a discussion about politics and government, something religion should have no part of.

And as for Romney "creating wealth". Sure. He buys companies and shuts them down. Creates wealth.

Our unemployment rate will go through the roof, though.

??????

Wow well at least it is clear there is no chance of a discussion here. I will not apologize for being a Christian and I don't believe everything I say is GODGODOMGGOD or whateer nonsense it is that you are so offended by. I will not apologize that my moral compass stems from God. Again though this comes back to you have tolerance except when it comes to God. I get it, i wasn't always a Christian. I was certainly not raised with it. Religious Persecution doesn't just extend to "I don't want to believe in any God and I hate when anyone talks about God".

Really though... Where does everyone Believe rights come from.

I am aware you don't like my husband or me because of our beliefs but I feel this is a legimiate question. Sorry that it has put you on the defensive but I won't apologize for my faith even if you see it as a weakness or something to hate
