Well, I guess I better stay off this thread because it would be next to impossible for me not to insult subtly any person, whoever that might be, who would let a puppy starve to the point that is shown in the pictures! If I see an animal abused or neglected, I have a hard time keeping my mouth shut. To reiterate, I don't have absolute, concrete proof of any particular person here neglecting this puppy. But the appearance of circumstantial evidence is strong enough, that it will be extremely difficult for me to be complimentary to this puppy's "care taker."

I hope the truth comes out somewhere, somewhere where it can do other dogs potential good, where it might prevent what happened to that puppy.

I think everything that can be said has been pretty much said already as far as opinion goes. Everyone has made their opinions perfectly clear. From here it would probably be good to keep posts relevant to the issue and providing proof either way so the issue doesn't get buried in a sea of "you said, i saif, he said, she said... But meant this"

Dober....nobody is asking ANYONE to be complimentary.

The problem is the back and forth insults and pi$$ing contests have created the majority of these pages.........so much so that the whole reason for the thread is being lost in a sea of silly. Who's going to want to wade through this garbage to find anything useful?

If you have something that ADDS to the evidence of the issue, ON EITHER SIDE......by all means share. If you just want to throw a couple more punches in the air....keep it to yourself. Simple.

I don't think I threw any punches at anyone because I don't know for sure who did what. All I ever kept posting basically, was my disgust at the condition of that puppy and my bewilderment at how any human being can allow that to happen. Of course, we all know what human beings are capable of.:(

Yes, I agree... the back and forth you said, she said, he said gets us no where and doesn't help get at the truth or help other dogs.

At this point, I am waiting for vet reports from the breeder. I know someone asked Jairi about vet reports from her vet for the puppy. That would clear some things up if she has a vet report that is from the same time frame as those pictures are.

Okay, since we got a little sidetracked... Maybe a little summary of where we are and what we still need addressed would be good.

Teal: You took two pictures two days before the breeder picked the puppy up. Some say the puppy looks unhealthy in those pictures, some disagree. But two days later (and the puppy was still in your possession for those two days), more pictures were taken by the breeder. Everyone, including you, agrees that the puppy looks emaciated in those pictures. Are you saying the pictures were doctored? Are you saying it's a different dog? I'm just wondering what your side is here.

Barbara: Do you have any reason (aside from Teal being your friend) to believe the breeder is making this up? I know if someone accused Linds of something like this, I'd be fighting just as hard as you to defend her. Actually, I'd probably get myself a timeout... lol But I've been to her home, I've seen the living conditions, I've watched how she interacts with her dogs on a daily basis. Can you say the same? I'm not accusing you of anything here. I'm just wanting to know if we have a witness that can attest to the living conditions in Teal's home.

What we're still waiting for: To hear from the breeder, vet records from both sides (which the breeder has apparently already offered to produce), and Teal's explanation.

I think that about covers it... Did I miss anything? lol

Well, I found something strange. Teal made a post on August 20, 2011 on another forum as an "introduction post." She listed all of the dogs she owned, but there was no mention of the fila. Seems like she had already stopped counting him as her dog by then- almost 2 weeks before she returned him to the breeder. She only has 3 out of those 7 dogs currently.

And also, it looks like the next dog on her list to own is a Portuguese water dog... hopefully the PWD breeders will do a better job screening her.

You forgot that we are also still waiting for teal to simply uncheck a box on photobucket so we can see the date info which would either prove or disprove some of the things that have been said.

Thank you for posting this, any added information that would preven this to happen to any other dog is important and helpful. Maybe you should take a screen shot, just in case that post gets deleted.

I guess no one saw my post yesterday.. or everyone just ignored it.

I still find it so strange that the breeder waited this long (14 months) to say anything about this.

I think it's actually been covered several times, it just got buried in this massive thread. Things that were mentioned (that I remember): breeder had a big surgery going last year/this year and the breeder may have been worried about the community turning it back on her for not choosing a "proper" home in the first place.

Also, I don't think it took many months to email RC back, I think RC emailed not too long ago. But I could be mistaken, or that could be not what you're referring to.

So you find it odd that a breeder who isn't much of an online person who has also had major surgery between now and then and was just contacted a month ago by teal herself hasn't been online to respond to inquires? I mean I'm lucky to have my grandma check her email once in three months and she is healthy. So no I really don't find it that odd.

This is a sad post :( I acquired Zeus last November, and I can honestly say that even after all the APBT I have owned, all the non-APBT that I have owned, all the ANIMALS period that I have owned, Zeus has ALMOST literally drove me out of my mind.......HOWEVER I would NEVER give up on him. With his attitude and enthusiasm, energy, and smarts, he would make a real bad person a GREAT evil dog...........it'd be real hard for someone to take him in & deal with him.......I chose to bring this dog into my family, and we do the best we can. That's like a baby being born and crying all night with colic, you gonna push it back up into your WHO-WHO???????

Sad post :(

That's how I feel. But I do understand a dog not working out. I don't think anyone is faulting her it not working out. It's more the care leading up to the breeder taking the dog back.

Yeah I did miss that.. although, 14 months is a long time IMO, even with a major surgery!

I'm just saying.. had any breeder I know had something like this happen, it wouldn't have been "swept under the rug". No way.

Well, considering the breeder has a website, I would assume she checks her email, for puppy inquires and such. But that's just me assuming. I know nothing about the breeder.. just that most breeders with websites and email info. on their websites check their email often.

I'm more inclined to believe the breeder was worried about it being turned back on her. Not how I would have handled the situation....... But from what Renee has said about the Fila community, I wouldn't be surprised if that was why.

I am interested to know if that's the case. Hopefully it will be cleared up when we hear back from the breeder.

Maybe at that point she didn't have any puppies available, therefore she really didn't have the need to be constantly online. (this is just me assuming, I don't know if she had or didn't have puppies at the time).
