If not, they were wall posts.

I think most people get that. I really don't think this is a matter of most people not remembering what was private and what wasn't since more than a couple people I've spoken to saw things there that were incredibly private and they know without a shadow of a doubt were said in pms.

I personally was very boring back then and couldn't tell the difference between pms or wall posts.

Snopes is pretty accurate. That's the whole point of it.

I agree, part of the reason I find this whole thing kinda strange. But I also don't think all these people who don't typically fall for the newest facebook rumor are just delusional when they are able to go look at their Timeline and see things that they are 100% sure weren't wall posts.

My only other thought is that it's actually not public but rather you can see it on your wall as a wall post but no one else can.

For mine, it seemed like old messages when messages and chat were separate.

I DEFINITELY always fact check these type of things. Like I said, I ignored it the first couple times and was even in the process of telling someone they were wrong about it when I decided to look and was shocked.

I can not 100% positively say they were private messages....but they were things I know the person posting would not want to be public on my wall so its still worth checking.
