A handout picture released by Guinness World Records on September 13, 2012 and taken on November 3, 2011 shows 3 year-old Great Dane called Zeus from Otsego, Michigan in the US which is featured in the new Guinness World Records 2013 book as the tallest dog ever, measuring 111.8 cm (44 in) from foot to withers and Zeus's owner Denise Doorlag. A Great Dane who towers 2.2 meters (7 feet 4 inches) on his hind legs is named the tallest dog ever recorded in the latest Guinness Book of World Records launched on September 13, 2012. The giant canine from Michigan in the United States eats an entire 14-kilogram (30-pound) bag of food every day and weighs in at 70.3 kilograms, the 57th edition of the global records book says. 30 pounds of food EVERY DAY?! WHAT?!??!!

That's what I was thinking?!?! Like, that can't even be possible?!

I saw this one FB a couple weeks ago...this dog just doesn't look well at all :/ And the 30lbs of food a day has to be a typo or an exaggeration...

His owners have already clarified that is not true...I think its 30lbs every two weeks. He is very very thin and his conformation looks almost painful.

I'm guessing he was a pediatric neuter given how loooooong his legs are compared to the rest of his body - ouch!

My dog would eat 30lbs of food every day if I let her. LOL.

He could def use some fat on those bones.

This! When I first got yoshi and didn't know how food fixated she was and that she didn't know when to stop she ate an 8-9 lbs bag of food. And when i got her that was about her body weight.

That was what I was thinking when I first saw the picture. I've seen quite a few great danes and other breeds that look similar to that (not quite as tall) and they where all neutered very very early.

And with his size and awesome structure, I'd rather he be a bit thin than a bit fat....

I don't know about "poor dog". sure he's huge and his structure isn't pretty but he looks happy. Love the photo of him drinking from the tap lol.

I saw a video of him a while back and couldn't get past the thought that his movement is just not right. And his rear legs seem to shake? I hope it doesn't hinder him in years to come.

He's awesome! I agree he looks a little weak in the hind end. He seems to have great owners who love him though and I'm sure if it becomes a problem for him they will have him welll taken care of.

I would think he'd have a lot of joint issues just from the size and poor structure. If he had more angles he'd likely be shorter too. Hope it's nothing major.

Yeah I do not like fat Danes at all but I still stand by this boy is underweight. However, yes under is better then over.

The way he was walking seemed painful, imo. But he seems to have loving owners, and I feel as though they are giving him a good home!

Oh and they have said they are working with a vet. He does seem very loved and taken care of.

Based on the picture I felt kind of bad for him, but seeing the video - nah. The owners seem to really love him, he looks like he leads a good life and has good vet care. 80% of the dogs in the world would love to live that life.

I agree he looks really - unsteady? - on his feet. But, as awful as it sounds...I can't imagine he has a spectacular life expectancy. Something else may hit him before arthritis really sets in.
