I'm trying one more time. It's not what you think Stephy, it's not your views, opinions or life experiences. It's the overall tone in which you present them.

We have a lot of different people on this forum, from all walks of life who all have different opinions and views. Most of them during day to day life on here are able to share them without immediately making others on the defensive and without coming off so self righteous ( I can't find a better word).

You seem to get so caught up in thinking that your views and outlooks are so different that you miss the fact that the way you express them on here is what makes people disagree, it's incredibly off putting and a little bit of different wording would go a long way.

The esoteric-ness of something is kind of defined by context.

If you take the general Chazzer views of the role dogs play in people's lives, it's pretty esoteric compared to the rest of the world. But among us, it's the norm.

So are Chazzer views esoteric? Or are they normal? I think the answer to that depends on whether the context is within an online community of dog lovers, or in Iran.

It's honestly that self-important sensibility that tends to set people off.

For the clarity of the subject:

self-important
adj
having or showing an unduly high opinion of one's own abilities, importance, etc.

"I'm so deep, you'll never understand me." <-- actual quote from art school classmates.

Vanessa: Dad?
Heinz Doofenshmirtz: Oh, hi, Vanessa!
Vanessa: Dad, what are you doing?
Heinz Doofenshmirtz: Well I'll be honest I don't really understand
But I fell down this hill and I got glue on my hands
Now I got records on my fingers
Kids: Whaaaat?
Heinz Doofenshmirtz: Records on my fingers
I got records on my fingers and I just can't stop
Kids: Don't stop
Heinz Doofenshmirtz: I can't stop I got a platypus controlling me
Kids: WHAAAAT?
Heinz Doofenshmirtz: I got a platypus controlling me
Now let me sum it up
It was a strange set of circumstances
Kids: Strange set of circumstances?
Heinz Doofenshmirtz: I fell down the hill, I got glue on my hands now I got records on my fingers
And I just can't stop
Kids: DON'T STOP DON'T STOP
Heinz Doofenshmirtz: Well I would if I was able
There's a platypus controlling me he's underneath the table
Kids: There's a platypus controlling him—WHAAAT?
Kid: Oh I get it, platypus is a metaphor for whatever is keeping you down
Kids: Corporations are a platypus
The government's a platypus
Your teacher is a platypus
Weird Kid: My teacher is a panda

Kids: Society's a platypus
My parents are a platypus
The media's a platypus
It's all just propaganda
We've all got platypus controlling us

Heinz Doofenshmirtz: No just me
Kids: We've all got platypus controlling us
Heinz Doofenshmirtz: I'd stop if I was able
Kids: We've all got platypus controlling us
Heinz Doofenshmirtz: I'm not speaking metaphorically
The platypus controlling me is underneath the table
Oh wait, no, he's gone!
Heyyy! There's no platypus controlling me...
There's no platypus controlling me!

(Cheers)

I'm trying (and failing) to see how "I hate bimbos" could possibly be considered an esoteric viewpoint, no matter how loosely one defines bimbo. Just because a view is disagreed with by many doesn't make it esoteric.

As a person who has a LOT of experience being his own worst enemy, I offer the OP this battle earned advice.

"When you find yourself in a hole, the first step in getting yourself out of it is putting the shovel down."

Did I say it was? :dunno: I just said that what is considered esoteric varies depending on the context.

Sometimes... If it seems like the rest of the world is the issue, you should look at the common denominator. I don't buy the whole "I am who i am and I can't change it so too bad". It isn't everyone else that suffers from that kind of thinking... It is the individual saying it. If no one gets you maybe it isn't because you are too deep or out of the box thinking... Maybe it's because you are pushing people away

I died laughing the first time I saw the bimbo bread commercial.

I don't think happy all the time is definition of bimbo.

That's all I'm adding to this.

I mentioned that I knew I would take heat for expressing them in the fashion which I do. I'll try to keep your points in mind but again - there's not much I can do if people find offense in me or my views/presentation style. On here, anywhere else, or in person.

Shai,

People have different definitions of things. Eccentric perhaps then?
First off. Many people have different view points. But in polite conversation you don't go into a group of people and just expostulate your views in the most in your face manner. At least not if you want to make friends. Its not what you say its how you are saying it.

Saying you can't do anything about it is very sad. You are saying you are incapable of self improvement even in little things? If so I urge you to get help (in all seriousness, if that statement is true you CAN change but you might need help to believe you can)

Second of all, don't use words you don't know the meaning of. Words don't have vastly different meanings just because you want them to. Well at least you first have to convince a large group of people to use it the way you want before it can have any new meaning.

You seem like you want to fit in on this forum. We have a incredible array of people spanning all sorts of opinions and values. The only thing we ALL have in common is a love of dogs. Its what is the basis for our sense of community, but not the whole of it. Either you work to find your place in the community or members seem to move on. Its not our place to find where YOU fit in.
