Is it bad for dog to eat egss everyday? I feed him 1 to 2 eggs everyday because that's cheapest food i can give him in order for him to get protein in his body to build muscle.. I cant afford dog food now or even chicken..

I f you are feeding eggs and only eggs, you're going to have pretty major health issues to deal with - you are missing key nutrients!!

He needs to eat more than just eggs. You can feed eggs as well as dog food or mix the eggs with his dog food to give him more protein, but if he ate ONLY eggs he would get sick.

That's no good at all. He's missing all kinds of essential trace minerals and other nutrients. If you want to do a home made diet, find out how to make a well balanced, completely nutritious diet for dogs. If you can't afford dog food, what if something more expensive happens, like some big vet bill? I hate to say it, but maybe you should consider re-homing him, even if temporary. (?) I mean...well balanced food is such a basic need. I'm really sorry you're having such financial trouble.

I know of several rescues who'll help valid cases, also several who'll be rude and demand you sign over your dog.

Consider what you're eating, how you're affording your food and rethink your finances in the rest of your life?

It's easier said than done but some places have extremely cheap bulk dog food or even brown rice/oatmeal which will be better than nothing for a short period.

Also some petstores sell/donate torn bags to valid cases. I know a few times rescues turned away high end torn bags I scored. Also Walmart will sometimes donate/sell cheap their pull date meat.

Just eating a diet of eggs will eventually make him sick. Check for local pet food banks in your area. Dogs need meat for protein.

What were you feeding? And, where are you located so we can help you look up local pet food banks in your area?

I would recommend you start with reading this.http://pets.webmd.com/dogs/guide/homemade-dog-food If you're feeding only rice and meat, eggs etc, your dog may be missing out on calcium along with other essential nutrients. And serious health issues can result. I also recommend consulting with a nutritionist before starting a home made diet. This site is very good and you can learn a lot about what a dog needs. The nutritionist on here is also very good. I've used her. http://www.dogfoodproject.com/

..if you can't afford to feed your dog, perhaps you should find him a new home? I'm not trying to be mean, but the dog will eventually suffer if fed an incomplete diet.

Dog Chow is better than starvation. And it's so cheap, I could raid my 6-yr-old piggy bank full of change to buy a large bag of it.

Find the dog a home that can afford to feed it then. Or find some kind of odd job that will up your income enough to feed it properly. Dogs can't live on eggs alone and frankly thats pretty scary that someone would attempt to feed a dog on eggs alone.

I've been jobless and homeless before and I still found enough money to buy a bag of Evo for my dogs, so don't tell me its not doable. Where there is a will there is a way.

Pedigree/Science Diet/Royal Canin crap is avalible by the 40 lb bagful at really cheap prices. Pet stores/groceries may put them on clearance if they are nearing expiration or torn like Adrienne said. My brother just bought a 40 lb bag of pedigree chow at Safeway for like under $20 I think he said.

A diet of "eggs, rice and left over meats" doesn't sound very complete or balanced - more details please? and also your location would be helpful for locating pet food banks - PM it to someone if you don't want to post it here.

Personally I would cut out portions of my meals to the dog if things got that bad and try to balance something out in terms of funds to purchase food.

I wouldn't find him a new home. This is the dog that hates (OP's words) and has bitten a child, and now the owner can't afford to feed the dog anything but eggs, rice and table scraps. I would put the dog down, and then do some very serious research and planning before ever getting another one.

Um what? Definitely not, SD and Royal Canin are amongst the most expensive big name foods available. Not something you're going to buy if you're on a tight budget.

Check any local feed stores, they usually have a cheap food. Maybe drop the internet or phone so you can feed your dog. I kind of have a "everything in the house eats" policy here, before any bill or anything else is paid for. (Not that I have to use that policy much..I try to live within my means.)
