He IS registered with AKC Canine Partners, just in case I ever overcome my sheer terror of entering a Rally event without someone to hold my hand. :p

You should definitely do it! I'm not even sure Frodo will leave me, but it's worth a try I guess :p

You should still come Megan!!!

You have to!
Hrmph. Ok!

I WANNA RUN A DOG! But not a Buzz or Bailey because they're deaf and/or unsound.
I want to go! I wouldn't be running a dog, as I doubt Jack could see the lure, and the only thing Missy chases is food.

But I want to see pretty Afghans! And possibly watch a Frodo! I don't think I've ever see a Corgi coursing.

Oh god you should have seen some of these dogs. There was a little doxie today, I don't think it ran the whole way (I wasn't watching that particular dog very closely) but it was adorable. And a cavalier that went about halfway around, and then just stopped and cut across the middle of the field prancing back to its owner all jolly. There was a little short-legged what looked to be some sort of herder mix that just flew with these really sproingy strides. All kinds of dogs.

Wish I could get up there - Riley loves, loves, loves lure coursing. I'd enter the CAT if you can, sounds like he's focused enough to earn legs, and really... what have you got to lose?

This was from Riley's first CAT, there was a pro photographer there.

If I had room, I'd bring Jayne so you could run him! Alas, we'll be full up with Kaylee and Rocket.

Heehee you guys get to hear her scream! :D

Nice!!! He looks like he had fun :D. I keep looking and looking for an all breed event and none come up within a reasonable driving distance. I'll have to look again in the spring. I'm pretty sure Skye would enjoy it...she quite turned on one time when we were watching a yorkie run flyball!

Haha, I'm not the only one! I keep looking at events and hemming and hawing over them...I should probably put all this training to some sort of use!

Where does one find CAT's being put on locally??
I've googled coursing ability test in midwest and found a couple of individual events, then saw the Midwest borzoi club bulletin, where various coursing clubs listed their events. So, you might have better luck looking for coursing clubs in your area to see what they have listed.

The CAT I went to was sponsored by the Australian Terrier Club as part of their specialty but they had to have the local coursing club help them with equipment and the folks who knew how to run it. I'm on the local club's email list so I was notified about the CAT that way.

This is the link from the AKC CAT website. Unfortunately, they are very few and far between, and definitely concentrated in certain areas. We're driving 3 hours (except we're going Friday evening, so it's going to be 5 hours...) to get to the one next weekend, because it's the only one under 6 hours away for the foreseeable future! I'm hoping it gets more popular and more events start popping up.

Second class today, I only had my wee point and shoot camera so the pictures aren't awesome, but at least you can see he's having fun.

Wow, I have never heard of a lure coursing class lol

CATs are far between in most places, unfortunately. I love that we have all breed racing here as a substitute!

Lure coursing sounds like fun! I've never given it much thought before. Time to start looking in CT...

There is a club in Southern CT...look up Lucky Dog Fun Run on Facebook. I wanted to go really badly but found out their field isn't completely fenced (I do not trust Skye's recall..hence lure coursing!). If your dogs have a good recall they look like a good/welcoming group.
