What breed do you want to borrow?

Borzoi! They are not a good fit for me right now as I would really prefer an off-leash trustworthy dog (and they're a bit on the big side for me) but I think they are soooo stunning. I just want to walk one around town in a nice dress and heels and show off.

There's lots of breeds I'd like to borrow first. Just to see if they truly are compatible with me. That's my fear with getting another breed... that they'll come live with me and I'll be like "oh crap what did I do?!?" lol... so yeah if I could borrow each breed I'm interested in for a week or two, that'd be awesome.

That list would probably consist of Border Terriers, Border Collie's, English Shepherds, Papillions... and heck even throw a Chihuahua in there. Oh and an English Mastiff or Dogue De Bordadeux because someday I swear I want one. But it'll be a LONG way away. Aussie and Golden too I'd certainly borrow.

The problem with most of the breeds listed here are that I know they would fit me too well and then it wouldn't be borrowing anymore it would be sneaking out of the country with puppy in my suitcase so I don't have to give him/her back

Then again I'm also borrowing a superfun puppy as I type so...yeah. I guess I should say I would borrow a FCR since I am, in fact, borrowing an FCR.

But really I would probably borrow something giant and fluffy. Probably a Great Pyrenees because I adore them after more or less raising one many years ago. I don't want a Great Pyrenees and they would be pretty phenomenally unsuited for me but I could totally borrow one for a few days and just bury my hands in that thick endless mass of white floofiness lol. And then give him back before shedding season or I run out of dog food

Wish those of you who'd like to borrow a Pyrshep lived closer - it'd be nice to have Savvysitters!

Probably some kind of herding breed, to test whether my lifelong theory that they aren't the right fit for me is true or not. Since the whole "oh I don't like huskies" thing turned out to be a lie.

Most of the breeds I'd want to borrow are breeds I'm interested in owning and would like to test drive first. German Shepherds, English Shepherds, both Cardigan & Pembroke Welsh Corgis, numerous others...

As far as just borrowing, I'd love to have a nice little mini poodle around for a week or two. I miss my old dog (poodle x, we think maybe cocker) and it'd be nice to have that energy back in the house for a bit.

One breed I've always liked, but don't believe I'd ever own, would be a Dobermann, so I'd love to test run / borrow one.

A border collie. That's probably about it lol. Just to see if they're as awesome as they sound.

Oh gosh...I would like to borrow proper specimens of all these...

I borrow GSDs, Chihuahuas,Samoyeds,Rottweilers and mixed breeds quite a bit. It really gives you an in depth look at the breeds. Kinda nice having the ability to "borrow" other breeds!

Oh! I forgot one! I'd love to experience a good, stable BC. The ones I've been around have been completely understimulated working-bred BCs in pet homes who think that daycare is enough to keep their BC satisfied They sound like really amazing dogs when properly cared for though, I'd love to get to know some better.

I know. But they're so much fun in other ways! There was one that used to demo in some obedience classes I took like 6 years ago and I loved her. But she definitely had a love for that very shrill voice of hers!

Can I specify a specific dog? I wanna borrow Dance and Cara. and Upendi.

We have a girl for summer help at the grooming shop and she told me that she wanted to steal Savvy. I was impressed, most pet type people do not say that after spending time with him LOL

I have been around Basenjis a lot...and no I'm not brave enough to borrow one LOL

I have actually gotten to "borrow" quite a few breeds in a sense since being a dogsitter. I was very close to the Rottie that I watched for 2 years and helped to raise him. I actually think I could live with a Rottie, I really connected with him. He was easy in a sense, but a challenge in another. He really just had a good soul if that doesn't sound too cheesy. Only thing I could have never lived with was his resource guarding and somewhat human aggression but I know that's not a breed trait per say and was likely just him and the way he was raised. But yeah out of all the dogs I watched for long periods of time... he was the dog I really just "connected" with. However I most likely wouldn't seek one out because of the short-ish life span and health issues. But it's a breed that, if thrown into my lap, I could easily live with.

Then, on the flip side, I definitely know what kind of dogs I'm NOT willing to live with also. Beagle mixes and me don't mesh. I've been around a few puggles often, I also helped raise a Boston Terrier/Beagle, and now the same owner has a JRT/Beagle, my grandma's Foxhound... just... not the dogs for me.

So dogsitting has actually given me quite a taste of a few different breeds and to be honest most of them don't appeal to me (as in I wouldn't go seek them out to purchase). If anything, it's made me realize how picky I am with my dogs.
