I figured I'd ask you girls... It's probably way TMI but oh well...

My boob is hurting really freaking bad today. It has all day and this morning I was almost in tears it hurt so bad. And I was nauseas all day, which I think had to do with the pain. It's not 'normal' pain either, it's on the side and only on the one boob. Now I've been sitting at work thinking I have a tumor or something and am freaking myself out. I didn't want to google 'breast' at work though so now I'm reading up at home and they say pain isn't a sign usually of a tumor, so that's good.

How long do I wait to see if the pain goes away before seeing a doctor? I can't think of a reason I would have hurt it recently although this afternoon I slammed it in the car door which I'm sure isn't going to make the pain go away quickly (it had already been hurting all day)

I tried taking pain relievers and it didn't help at all.

...how do you slam your boob in a car door? LOL

Ugh, sorry you have the pain :( If it's realy that bad, I'd probably head to the doctor tomorrow if I were you (though I likely would have gone today, I'm a wimp)

Is it in one spot? Like you could point at the exact spot? Or is it just like... the whole thing?

Do you drink a lot of pop?

I'd go check that out. I have no idea what it may be but that seems really random and not somewhere to suddenly have pain. There are lymph nodes there (more in the arm pit but I am not sure *where* you are hurting), perhaps you just have an infection draining into those?

Are there any red spots or areas? Do you have a fever? It almost sounds like mastitis. Its not common but apparently can happen when not nursing or pregnant.

Yeah it's just one spot, not near the armpit but on the side. I've had pain before but it's usually not just in one spot like this and not just on one side. I wonder if I could have pulled something or done something I don't remember...?

Oh and as far as slamming it in a car door, they're kind of... big. LOL!

I drink some pop but not much.

No, it's not red or bruised. And there's no lumps or anything I can feel. It's on the outer side and not the side I sleep on or anything like that.

ETA: It's not that time of the month either.

Sometimes when I drink pop my boobs hurt... I've also heard it happens to some people either right before/during/after their period.

Other than that I have no idea :(

Are you ovulating maybe? Mine hurt every time I ovulate too.

Someone I know had the issue just last week actually, and her doctor said it was due to stress/diet change and caffeine. Could it be the case for you?

I'd see if it gets better and see a doctor just in case if it still hurts in a couple days, personally.

I haven't really changed my diet and yesterday I didn't have much caffeine compared to usual (no coke and no coffee). It hurt from the moment I woke up and is still hurting now.

Stress is highly possible and I'm about 2 weeks in to my pack of BC.

iirc cysts can cause some symptoms like pregnancy, sore breasts and nausea being among them. I remember feeling really yucky when I had a suspected one - my doc was really helpful, so i'd prob get an appointment to get checked out.

Take your temp, if it's up then it's more than likely an infection, if not, go see the doctor in the morning.

I know they can hurt! TMI story but I was pumping for my first kiddo and the first night at the RMH I got up to pump and didn't check the setting. I think I jumped three feet and was not a happy camper for the next few days. Just a word to the wise, when you've had a c-section do NOT leap three feet into the air out of a chair. Bad idea!

Hope in your case it's nothing. And don't slam them in doors anymore.

Still sore this morning but it's a duller pain for sure. Can't tell if the pain now is from the car door or not...

This. 6ish months ago, I had prego symptoms (and a panic attack haha) including sore breasts and the urge to throw up. I completely forgot to ask my doctor about it but it did go away after my period and I haven't had anything like that since. I randomly get pain like you're describing but it always goes away before I remember to ask a doctor about it.

Basically, I'm no help whatsoever, but I thought it might be reassuring to know that you're not alone.

Get it checked out. I'll occasionally get an inflamed lymph node in my left breast right in that indention where the breast meets the armpit area. I've had it a few times, and none of the OB/GYNs I've seen ever figured out why. I've also had a cyst (non-cancerous) revived from my left breast. I had the pleasure of my first mammogram when I was just 20 (at least I had teeny double A's...lol. I don't want to have one with these post-children full C's. O_O

People used to ask me what a mammogram felt like and/or how to prepare.

1. Have someone get into their car, start it, and prepare to assist you in this endeavor.
2. Lie down flat on your stomach in the driveway by the car.
3. Forcefully grab your breast, and pull it and smash it down to fit it right under the back tire. Take no special care of the nipple area.
4. Have the person in the car back the car onto your breast. Remain like that for a minute, then have the driver pull forward again.
5. Repeat.

If it is just on the side I would guess it is just sore from pulling a muscle or something. After spending a day shoveling rocks I had a soreness on the side of mine also. But I am not one to go to the doctor. I would give it a few more days and if it is still hurting, then I would go, but if it is just lasting 1-2 days, I wouldn't worry too much. I get weird pains all the time.
