Proceed with caution please - anyone squeamish, easily spooked, or grossed out please don't view.

It's kinda strange but a interesting and I think beautifully animated video. The twist is a common theme in Japan - tentacles are a common sight in horror/fantasy stories and movies there. I think a Phantom Kuvasz jumping out of the water would have been killer too...just sayin'

I could be wrong but I think Chaz is the wrong demographic for this video.

Personally though, I'm indifferent. I don't like the tentacle obsession much and this kind of reminds me of dead space 2 in a way.

I didn't watch it >.<

I'm a HUGE anime/video game fan. My preference is the really japanese-y ones. I can play weird/creepy/graphic games no problem. The tentacle obsession does creep me out quite a bit

:lol-sign: I would pretty firmly file that under all bizarre and not in any way appealing (least of all beautiful), but that's me.

DH was telling me about the tentacle thing in anime recently and I thought he was exaggerating--apparently not so much...

Nope...

The worst part is when you want to tell someone about the super deep story lines and amazing animation and music and all they know about is the creepy tentacle stuff.

Yeah, in the U.S. but animation is not specifically, or even mostly for children in their culture. It makes sense, too. Our country is one of the few that has a billion dollar industry dedicated to making movies. It's more practical for them to animate since they don't have the actors, sets, and expensive special effects etc to do all the extreme fantasy-type stuff that they do in film. Animation is just not associated with children or innocence in their culture.

All that aside this video was far from my cup of tea, lol.

Not exactly the appropriate demographic at all. :p

But if you want the opinion of someone who's watched way weirder stuff out of Japan than this (search Nekokiru-so on YouTube if you want a weird, beautiful, mind-numbing movie from Japan sans tentacle porn...) the animation is haphazard, and the video isn't well-timed in most places. This borders on disgusting more than just creepy, and hardly beautiful!

But I'm the opposite of most Chazzers and have seen way too much of this stuff. Just seems weird to use animation like this for a music video unless you're intent on alienating a lot of your fans.

Also, this:

A lot of adult animation is incredible, beautiful, and amazing story-wise. You're missing out on a lot of great animation from all cultures if you limit yourself to the American ideal of "cartoons = for kids"

It's not just Japan, either. If you haven't seen Les Triplettes De Belleville (SFW)...

I'm not really sure what to make of cartoons with sex. And I kinda draw a blank when supernatural stuff and sex are mixed.

So this leaves me kind of confused as to what I should be feeling or thinking. Is it just supposed to be mildly interesting? Because that's what I get out of it lol I think I would have preferred it if there were no tentacles and it was some coming of age story.

Anyways, I don't mean to put it down. It was interesting. The mood was well set, especially in the beginning. Just not entirely sure what to make of it.

And as for appropriateness... I dont' think it is for a family friendly forum but then a lot of stuff posted directly on Chaz would not pass as "family friendly" on any other forum I've been on. At least this was an external link!

Personally I find family friendly OT sections to kinda suck, so I appreciate a bit of 'edginess'. :p

This sums up my feelings on it as well!

I've watched quite a bit of anime and I love RPGs so it wasn't necessarily shocking... It was just odd. Not beautiful, just weird.

I disagree.

It's a pretty mainstream movie so it's easy to find. But give the movie Princess Mononoke a try. It's definitely a cartoon but it isn't something I'd have kids watching. It has really beautiful animation and a great story. It's not innocent but it is honest.

I meant innocent to me. Not innocent in general lol
I dabbled in some comics/anime stuff as a teen and have seen some pretty adult animated films and I appreciate them for what they are but to me.. cartoons started with Disney and the like and always kind of retained that childlike innocence for me personally lol so it never really sat well with me to watch that kind of stuff.

that's why I compared it to Pokemon. Animation to me is one of those childhood things that really brings me back to being that age.
So anytime I see it mixed with sex I'm always a little uncomfortable :rofl1:

but this is just beyond it being animation. More then anything its just weirding me out because of the tentacles. and just everything lol

I like shaking things up - I find it more interesting if things like this are presented to people outside of their very niche target audiences.

And beautiful I mean in beautifully animated and executed video - not exactly it's context or subject lol.

Princess M I've seen snippets of - it's pretty good.

I like more 'adult' animation. There's something about the medium of animation especially traditional animation, that captivates me and always has. Then again I just watched part of the Lion King and was wondering at the animation there.

Anyways, I can't watch the video because my speakers went out on my computer the other day. I can't watch anything on my computer now, which sucks. It sounds... interesting? Can't say tentacles are my thing.

I'll be brutally honest: I dont get anime. It makes no sense to me as to why I would find it interesting enough to watch. In college, I had a couple friends that were die-hard anime people. We went our separate ways over my getting past the "huh? Meh." part of it.

That link was just odd and disgusting, and not something I'd ever want to see again.
