None of them!

I have the best instructors ever as it is and none of the tv trainers could match them in skill or raw talent.

Sesame street. They did a show on pets and training I believe lol I think that's the only show I'd be ok with my dog being showcased/trained on. They use positive reinforcement, taught kids how to approach and ask to pet dogs, fun tricks..Yup.

I would happily let oscar the grouch train my dog WAY before any tv trainers lol

Wouldn't let either of them touch my dog with a 10 ft pole. ;)

Kinda.. but the pole for Mr Milan would be much longer with some sharp bits to make sure he stays back.

Why would I want a reality TV host to train my dog when there are far better people locally? Heck I don't really need anyone else to train my dog anyway :D

Agreed.

I just find Stillwell annoying as a person and mediocre as a trainer. Nothing she does makes her seem like she's any more skilled then the average R+ pet dog trainer and I wouldn't let her work my dog anymore than the nice girl at PetSmart lol.

If they'd change the question to who would I rather have at a backyard BBQ or hang out with, I'd easily answer Cesar. But neither of them are touching my dog other than to pet them.

lol same here. I met Cesar at an event, and he is really nice and charming and friendly, I would totally hang out with him!
..but I'm certainly not letting him to train my dogs.

He could rollerblade with romeo if he wants though lol that's pretty cool.

If those were my choices then I'd choose Victoria, at least there is no chance of my dog getting abused or getting worse behaviorally. But I honestly don't think she's a great trainer, I find myself frustrated with her a lot because of things I feel she should be doing and is not. A lot of times I get frustrated with her rate of reinforcement being way too low, especially with reactive dogs.

Well if my dog needed training and I HAD to choose, definitely Victoria.

But I agree that I don't really like her a whole lot, and I find her show too focused on the drama of the PEOPLE now. I watched an episode last week where they spent like 30 minutes of the 45 minute show counseling this couple's relationship and the guy almost moved out, like, twice during the shooting.

I like Cesar as a person actually, but hate his training. It would NEVER work with a dog like Jackson.

I'm not sure Meg could even interact normally with Cesar. Some of the things that I think are 'normal' in his interactions would have her shutting down.

Brad Pattison wouldn't be allowed within 100' of me, much less my dogs.

But yeah...there is nobody I've seen on TV that I would be excited to have work with my dogs.

Well, if it were a choice between current TV trainers it would be Victoria, definitely. She is super nice in person, fun to be around and although I won't say she's the best trainer out there, she would be able to work with my dogs using similar methods as I use.

Just like Cesar is a jerk on his show, so is Victoria. Something tells me that some of these idiot dog owners must need that, or it's a big seller. Think "biggest loser"- you have to be cruel to be kind. Just my opinion. The reason I would pick victoria is because her methods are based on actually knowing dog behavior, and science, and Cesars are based on medieval domination theories which aren't nearly as effective.

If I had to choose, it'd be Victoria. I use a lot of positive reinforcement training with my own dogs, so of course she'd be my choice. She certainly couldn't do any harm to my dogs, IMO. And to be honest, I don't feel that Cesar could do any harm to my dogs either (can't really imagine him doing anything detrimental or extreme to my dogs considering they don't have any behavioural concerns that would warrant anything extreme like you generally see on his show). But his methods are methods that I prefer not be used on my dogs regardless.

With that said though, I really don't care for any of the TV trainers and would not take my dogs to any of them. The main two (Cesar and Victoria) both seem like nice enough people when not training dogs, but as far as actual training and behaviour management goes, I feel that there is much better talent and knowledge right here in my own city.

And since he was brought up: I wouldn't go near Brad Pattison for anything. A co-worker of my mom's daughter went to one of his seminars (free ticket) and the things he did and the stuff she heard and witnessed in real life were just disgusting. Perhaps moreso than what is shown on TV. She didn't stay to finish. He was obnoxious, rude, belittling, and his training philosophies were nuts. I know a few people who trained under him and with him as well, and the one person inparticular can't stand him and has since learned much better methods.
