After getting engaged...did you call everyone?

Random q spurred by reading someone's wedding page...

So for those that have been engaged...did you immediately call everyone & let them know? Or did you take the time to just be happy with one another?

I don't think either is right or wrong, but I think (not that I would know)...I'd rather just take personal time with my new fiancee rather than call everyone.

My cousin recently got engaged... They basically called heir parents and grandparents, then put it up on Facebook for everybody else to see cause no way were they calling everyone

Everyone? No.
I called my mom, sisters, and dearest friends (3) The others found out a bit at a time either from word of mouth or running into each other.

There was no facebook or myspace back then or I would've utilized that resource, lol

Sorry, I guess I meant in the moments following the popping the question... not like, how did you get the word out.

Just wondering if it was done immediately or if anyone waited a few hours or a day to tell the most important people.

I would absolutely tell my parents, siblings, and other family members/close friends.

IF it ever happened - I would call my few close friends first. Then facebook it/parents.

I probably called my people within and hour or so. Hubby did it right after I got off from work and we had to go eat dinner which was in the oven lol.

We were on vacation with my now-husband's family... so they found out in person that night. (We were off exploring on our own when he proposed.)

I called my mom, my two brothers, and my best friend the following morning.

From there, I kinda let the news trickle through the family "phone tree" for a while, made a couple calls to friends/family myself, and of course, I shared the news with people I saw in person (friends/coworkers/etc.). After maybe a week or so of making sure the important people knew, I finally made the mass Facebook announcement.

Lol if Ryan ever asked I doubt Id be calling many. I think most people just assume we are after all these years (8 years). My family would know right away since I still live with them, and my 2 best friends I would tell, and they would say *OMG he finally grew the balls to ask you lol* He probably would have already told his parents all our mutual friends wouldnt be to shocked either lol. I honestly doubt he will ever ask. So I doubt I will ever need to make a big deal of it. we can live in sin lol

I'd probably wait until the date at least is over. (if he plans something). Then I'd call my parents, grandparents and a select few within the day. Everyone else would find out via facebook or something

I would call everyone the next day.. let the whole day be about us as a couple instead of us/everyone else
but that's just me

my best friends/parents would get a call..everyone else could find out on facebook/engagement announcements within the week via email or snail mail. and when I say facebook I mean a text update or a picture of us together..NOT BY me posting a picture of just my hand with the ring. ugh just NO. such a pet peeve of mine.
