We've got a DockDogs competition this coming weekend, so we headed out for some practice at a regulation pool. I've really been trying to work on my throw to maximize his distance, however throwing his hard, haha. One of the throws was *picture perfect* He caught the toy -right- at the last minute, curled his back end right then for MAX distance and landed at 23. AH!!!! Of course, I could not repeat said perfect throw, but still. PICTURE PERFECT JUMP!

First, this is why I want to try EV with this dog! Only thing is, should I just screw it and enter an EV wave with no practice and just try? Or see if I could get a spot in practice after everyone is done? (probably won't be a big event)

Awesome on the throw and some cool pics! And as far as EV goes, I just entered my dogs. That worked ok for Aeri - her first time she missed, but at our last event she hit 5'0" after starting at 4'6"! Kestrel, however, still hasn't put it all together and thus we've thrown 3 entry fees away. :p

Great photos!!

Enter EV and let them know you've never done it. They're very nice about it and will give as much time as they can to you to entice Blaze with the EV bumper.

Are you practicing grabs already? Getting him comfortable jumping out and taking the bumper from your hand: http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc6/252161_689314491308_8039817_n.jpg

Also you can build out of PVC an EV arm to practice with: http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc6/s720x720/251815_883906537288_692044394_n.jpg

If he'll jump out and grab I am sure you'll have no problem at all!

Oh yikes. Did he even try to jump?

He is very comfortable grabbing the bumper from my hand, away from the pool. We have not tried it at a pool. He's also very comfortable grabbing the bumper from my hand while going over a jump.

Yea Kes jumps now (our first try he didn't even see the bumper tho lol), but it's an either or proposition: either he jumps far enough out but not high enough OR her jumps plenty high but not far enough out. :p He's also not running and jumping, just jumping from the very edge of the dock. :p Goofy animal!

Ohh, okay, good! Haha, at least he jumps. I wouldn't count it a total loss if he jumped. :p

Well, we entered EV. (along with 5 BA and SR...commit me now, please)
