I really, really don't know any men who 1) would have any interest in babysitting and 2) I would trust with an infant. My brothers in law might help my sisters babysit, but by no means would they be the primary caretaker. I'm sure it would be different if I had brothers or knew any responsible men who liked kids.

So you BILs "help" but are not capable of watching their own children??

Yeah, my biological brothers are the only dudes who I'd trust with my baby. One of them raised four of his own and he LOVES babies, and my little bro is a state approved foster parent and takes care of poor little crack babies. My dad is totally trustworthy, but he really can't stomach diapers. Like, he'll vomit for real. lol

I know... I know... but my babydaddy would NOT be jumping to keep my nieces and nephews for weeks on end! That would probably be a nightmare for him. ;) I just think a strange man, who is eager to watch toddlers for weeks, is a weird thing.

My BILs will watch their kids for the day, but again, won't be begging to watch my baby all day long alone. I'm really not trying to be sexist but that's how it is for me, personally. I'm not saying it's bad to have a dude babysit kids but they're rare. I was never babysat by a man alone - except for my Dad.

Who has someone watch their baby or toddler for weeks in the first place? Unless you mean a regular daily babysitter thing...in which case I think men can like babies just as much as women.. Maybe I've just known baby liking guys, lol.

^ This, barring some medical treatments that requires long term stays in a hospital or messes up you immunity (like chemo).

Regardless of the mom's bad decision though, that guy still needs to be d-e-a-d.

I've got extra confidence in my bros because they're way older than me and used to babysit me all the time. They're super fun, kind, and just really good with kids. They're expert at spoiling kids and making sure the kids have an awesome time. Plus they never molested me. I'd rather leave my kids with them than a strange woman.

Dead is too easy for these guys. Once the other men in prison find out that they are molesters its pretty much hell on earth for them.

Awful..just awful. Words don't even describe. Those people deserve more than a quick death.

and to think.. I used to think my parents were NUTS for screening nannies so closely and having security cams set up in the house.
Now it doesn't seem so far-fetched!

Note to all parents from someone who babysits a lot.. get one of these.

It's $100 and you can check up on your kid on your phone/any internet connection and it records.

What are the statistics on sexual abuse? I don't think it is that rare. It's a question we ask and more often than not its a yes. Think of how many deny. Think of how many never report. Much higher than it should be. I have several friends that were abused while younger.

The eating thing madey skin crawl. I hope they thoughly checked him out.
If you work in mental health then obviously more people are going to have issues.

I work in child protection, and can tell you we don't get many horrific sexual abuse cases, they are rare. We get more child on child sexual abuse than adult to child.

But when they do happen, they tend to be high profile, so you'll know about it.

There is a fair bit of sexual exploitation of older kids/teens but very few peado rings and straight sexual abuse cases.

What I'm trying to say is... Live life, don't live in fear.

Thats just sick.

On the men babysitting thing. My husband is the one who offers to watch my friends/families kids more then I do because he is a kid/baby person. I am with mine but others meh. My friends husband BEGS me to bring morgan over to their house when hes off so they can hang out. His son is a TOTAL mamas boy and Morgan loves to play him and loves cars LOL. My cousin also LOVES to baby sit he was actually going to go to school to be a kindergarten teacher.

Heck all the people I trust to watch my kids are either male or its spend most of the time there with the male in the house.

That is just horrific! I think they ought to tie these bustards to a tree in the woods and let the wild animals have at 'em. It's beyond a normal human's ability to understand how someone can be like that. They're monsters, not human. I hope they are eliminated from society. Why should tax payers support them in prison? ...other than the idea that they'll be eliminated by other inmates hopefully within short order.

My husband is the second oldest of 8 kids, so was around lots of babies and toddlers. He has helped with friends kids before and when we have a child I would have no issues leaving him with our infant.

Take some satisfaction in Dizzy being right about fates worse than death -- and death will probably come at some point in the prison term. By that time they'll most likely welcome it.

And it won't be difficult for the other prisoners to get to them either.

I really cna't imagine giving any of them less than a life sentence. You can't just fix someone like that.

The entire story gave me shivers down my spine.

I agree, I really can't see someone like that being 'cured' or 'fixed' or even 'under control' of their illness. So why give a life sentence? Why pay to keep that kind of person alive and caged forever?

If there's no doubt of guilt, convict and be done with it. Let the families have closure, save the tax payers money, and just be DONE.

This.

I'm on a special list for babysitters for US government employees stationed in Ottawa area. Probably 65% of that list are males -- and it's not as easy as them wanting to be on a list ;) They go through the same background tests I did, which were a PITA. So I doubt it's something that they don't actually want to do.
