Spent the entire day in the ER - at two different hospitals - for severe abdomen pain. Had a CAT scan and ultrasound done, where they found a cyst the size of a grapefruit - around 10 centimeters big. It is a dermoid cyst and if you haven't heard/seen of them before, I warn you: CREEEEEEPY!!!

They could have done the surgery to remove it last night, but the DR said it would be better to have it scheduled and have everything ready to go. With that being said, I'll have it removed next Monday! I got tomorrow afternoon for pre-op, blood work, etc.

It kind of makes sense now why I didn't have an appetite at all last week. I had to make myself eat every day and would get full after a few bites, but I'm glad I may have found the reason why that was happening!

Thanks! I don't think I've ever been in so much pain, but I'm so much better today. I woke up from a 2.5 hour nap not long ago and it was such an awesome nap.

LOL! Maybe I should have done more of a warning. I wish I could have seen my pastor's face when he googled it :lol-sign: He didn't believe my mom when she told him what it was, but he texted her a few minutes later saying his daughter had showed him some pictures and it was disgusting. From what I've been told he almost got sick and his face was funny (per his daughter).

He calls it "my critter" now, lol!

....can you keep it?

ETA: I mean like, in a jar, outside of your body. Cause THAT would be cool.

I was gonna ask the same thing! Give it a name :)

Hope it goes well for you on Monday! I'll be thinking of you!

There could be a naming thread!!

I'll also add:

I'm glad you know what's going on. Sending 'surgery go good' vibes. Do you know what the estimated recovery time is?

You guys! That's gross! Keeping it in a jar! OMG!:yikes:

Hey Nikki, I'm so glad that it's nothing serious and it can be removed. Sorry about all the pain though, that it has caused. That will be over soon! Yeah! Best of luck in surgery. I hope everything goes smoothly for you. Hang in there.

Ewww. I'm creeped out by the thought of that thing being inside me, I definitely don't want to keep it in a jar. LOL that would be so disgusting! :p However, my mom and pastor discussed that yesterday on the phone

Also, me and one of the pastor's kids named it "Harry" haha. So now its name is "My Critter Harry" :lol-sign:

The recovery time shouldn't be long at all. It is an outpatient surgery, so I'll be in and out of the hospital the same day. I'll just be so glad when I'm able to play sports again... I'm already so bummed that I won't be able to play kickball at church tomorrow night :( I've been looking forward to that for weeks now!

But... it could make you famous! I mean internet famous... On the weird side of the internet... But still internet famous!!

WE SHOULD NAME IT CUPCAKE.

lower text!
I agree with this name selection!

Good to hear it's an outpatient. I have to admit when I hear someone can't get themselves to eat this isn't the first thing that pops into my mind.

Vibes for a speedy, full, and comfortable procedure and recovery.

Yeah, I wouldn't be interested in keeping it in a jar or otherwise after it was extracted...

AND it *COULD* have eyes, too! I think you should keep it and name it (I do like Harry!), and maybe even take it for walks!

:rofl1:

Good luck with the surgery, although I'm sure it will be easy and uneventful! That's really good that they figured out what was causing your abdominal pain.

O_O

I'm glad they found the cause, and I pray the surgery is uneventful and you recover well.

And I vote "NO!" to keeping......it.

WTF.

How do you get these? Do they just randomly pop up? I need to get a full body scan now... I've never heard of them, but googling them was horrifying! At least it's not on your face!

Good luck with the surgery. I'm sure you'll feel much better afterwards. I wouldn't ever want to see it if I was you!

Youre born with them, you don't know until they get big enough to cause a problem, they're real slow growing
