I was talking this over with a few friends and thought it would be nice to get your guys input as well. What color collars and or designs do you think looking really well with certain colored dogs/certain patterns?

Sophie is brindle and has a black bordered brown leopard print collar, coordinates perfectly!

Oh my dogs are color-coded and always have been.

Male, yellow lab = red/black
male, silver weim/lab = bright blue/black
female, white and tan pit = hot pink and purple
male, brindle Dutchie = green/black

That was my first "set" of dogs, then my current "set"
male, sable long coat GSD = bright blue/black
female, brindle Corgi = bright purple
female, brindle Corgi = hot pink
male, red/tan Kelpie = bright green
male, bicolor GSD = red/black

Finn is wearing everyone else's hand-me-downs right now so he has a plethora of colors LOL

I think a lot of it is just as dependent on a dogs' personality and gender as it is on their coat colour, but I have to say that turquoise and teal both look awesome on red dogs (like Toller red, or Quinn's red). Actually, I like both of those colours on brown dogs too.

My own dogs all sort of have their own colours, too.

Ripley looks best in darker greens and he also looks good in dark tan or cognac leather. I like burnt orange on him too. His worst colour (that I've tried on him) is red.

Keira looks best in girly colours. Purple I think is her most flattering colour, followed by pink. Being a black dog, her coat looks good against almost any colour, but a lot of colours still don't suit her personality well regardless. Her absolutely worst colour is brown.

Dance looks best in turquoise and teal and also dark purples. Actually, she pulls off pinks and lavender pretty well too. Her worst colour is black. I don't like black on her at all.

I also like collars that match their coats too if they're leather. So Ripley gets brown, Keira black and Dance tan.

I agree that it depends on the individual dog. Reecie has a blue camo collar right now, and I HATE it. She looks really good in yellow.

I used to thinks Maggie's color was pink, but I got her a nice purple collar, and I love it on her. But it has to be a certain purple; I don't think she would look good in light purple.

I've always liked bright blues and greens (like lime, teal, aqua etc.) on red dogs, the shade depending on their shade.

I like yellows, oranges, pinks and reds on blues. Traveler looks great in red and yellow and Didgie rocks yellow and pink.

Black dogs suck and can wear anything and look amazing

Totally agree with this!

I've discovered that Jackson looks best in tan. And I think a lot of Yorkies/Silky's or other terriers with similar coloring look good in tan-ish colors.

Saga is like Keira, she looks best in shades of pink and light purples. (Which is funny since *I* hate the color pink.) She also looks great in black leather, with brass. I find chrome or silver to be too cold for her coloring.

Nico's color is a leaf green. I also think that a deep orange would probably look good on him, too. I also like the way he looks with black leather and brass, the black compliments his mask. ;)

All of my dogs were color coded, too.

Macie, dark brindle - purple/pink
Zander, red Sibe - Black or chain
Dante, apricot - dark Blue or black
Goose, black & tan - bright red or blue
Eve, merle - hot pink
Indy, black - pastel purple

Sometimes Eve and Indy matched or were switched up.

I need to do collar shopping for Zander. But he's so fluffy, red, and white. It's impossible to find many things that look good on him.

I definitely agree that blues and greens look good on red/orange dogs. Quinn has been put almost exclusively in turquoise since she's been a pup lol. It's my favorite on her. I also like her in a dark kind of raspberry color and I've recently found out she looks awesome in periwinkle too!

As far as leather color I like her in tan or a light oil
(matches her coat). I also have a reddish brown color collar that I like, but not as much. I don't think she'd look good in black leather. On Dally (blue ACD) I like her in dark brown or black - she's currently in a dark blue leather collar and it looks great!

I really like lime green on tri color dogs. IDK why!!! Fozz looks so good in lime green. Even though it'd be the obvious choice to get a light blue collar to match his eye.

I like royal blue or yellow on black/white dogs.

I am just saving some pennies up to buy my dogs new collars and I am trying to figure out colors. I color code too,
Robyn always wears pink,
Trin is usually blue but now she is wearing an old pink collar of Robyn's. She is black so any color looks great on her.
I am still deciding on a color for my new Saluki.
Here are some of the ones I am debating on. If I was rich I'd just buy most of them and alternate!
