So for those unaware I have a virus. YAY!

I have been battling a 102-103.9 fever for 2 days and I think it's burning off but it's left me with an insanely sore throat.

I am starving, I choked down some soup last night but barely enough. I mean.. I like to eat.

Even water is making me cringe when I swallow. I tried the sore throat numbing spray and it burned my raw tonsils. :/

Anyone have any tips on how to get rid of this. The doctor said I need to just ride it out but I am in major pain and intense food withdrawals.

Help! (further more, I apologize if I get snarky in any other threads, like I said I eat a lot and 2 days sans food is not my style at all. LOL)

I just saw this on Pinterest the other day and I didn't believe it. Maybe you can try it and see if it's true... supposedly you can eat a few marshmallows and it will sooth your throat.
The skeptic in me believes half the stuff on Pinterest is a social experiment trying to see how many people they can get to do stupid stuff just because you saw it on Pinterest. =P Eating marshmallows to try and make yourself feel better sounds too good to be true. But it couldn't hurt, right? I mean, marshmallows.

Anyway, this is what I use for my sore throat:
http://www.organicallynaturalstore.com/product/quantum-thera-zinc-herbal-sore-throat-spray-4-oz

It tastes DISGUSTING, like seriously nasty nasty nasty, but it works a lot better than Chloraseptic IMO. I bought it at the dirty hippie store here in town.

Two sprays every couple of hours of Thera Zinc Oral Spray is the tastiest way...

LOL

Thank you, I'm not sure we have honey or marshmallows but I can try both when I leave the house.

I just tried salt water and though it didn't hurt like the spray it didn't seem to instantly de-swell and comfort.

I gargle with a mixture of white vinegar (it's what I normally have around the house) and black pepper. I'm sure you could use apple cider vinegar also.

Hope you feel better!

Did you do hot salt water? The warmer the better because it allows the salt in to let the cells burst or something? Works every time for me! Maybe I just burn the lining of my throat off to lol!

I gargle with that every couple hours till better. I'm a nurse- cant go to a dr!

gargaling (?) with camomile. Add a few drops in water. Tastes nasty, but helps.

Or, a more tasty option, hot lemon. Boil water, add lemon juice and spoon full of honey. :)

Camomile will help heal your raw tonsiles though.

We always do the hot salt water gargle thing, but once a sore throat gets that bad the effects seem very short lived. When I had a nasty sore throat this spring my doctor had the pharmacy mix up "magic mouthwash" (http://sprittibee.com/2010/04/magic-mouthwash-remedy-for-sore-throats.html <- interesting article on it). In my case it was a mix of nystatin, hydrocortisone, and generic allergy medicine. It worked AMAZINGLY well. :D
