on Monday since we have DockDogs Regionals in 3 weeks and I'd like to up their game a bit beforehand. ;) Thought you all might be amused by what we're up to. LOL

Retrieves on a hill:

and fetch with a resistance parachute!

Kes was a bit concerned at first

But got over it quickly!

Aeri did just as well

The end result!

We are also maintaining our normal swimming and flirt pole activities of course. I'm hoping the more intensive work will build up their ability to power down the dock a bit faster/stronger.

Your dogs are so cool. I want more time for dog sports. One day, one day. Until then I am going to live through you. :D

Hahaha poor Kes! Great pics! Good luck at regionals. Do they jump about the top of their divisions? I think I read they take top four from each division so that'll be the perfect place to get an invite.

Aeri is jumping high Junior, low Senior right now. She'll be entered in Junior but may be moved up after the competition in a few weeks as she only needs one Senior leg to complete her regional Senior title. :p

Kes is a bit off his game and jumping high Senior right now, he'll be competing in Master, but his PB is an Elite jump, so he could really be anywhere in that range lol.

Oh, I bet she'll get that at Blue Ridge Challenge, with all the extra training!

Maybe we'll both make it to finals and compete again each other? Wouldn't that be fun. hehe. Blaze has been jumping in the mid-Master range.

Where did you purchase the parachute? That's a great idea!

Chaz meetup at worlds is totally mandatory!

Good luck to both of you!

I'm not sure Backup will have any semblance of a chance, we're just way too inconsistent, but we'll be there with Sloan. :)

Oh, no, I'm not going to worlds. Erin and I are going to the same regional event in a couple weeks. Just both very much hoping to make finals! :)

Do you have to be in the top 2 or 3 in finals to get a world invite?

blerg, de-railing Erin's thread. . .
They're taking the top four from each titling division at each regionals. They take top 1 from each other event ISE, Sportsman Series, and Wild Card event (which was Vail, CO). Regionals is the best way to get an invite.

Also, you don't need to make finals, it's all about your titling division not your finals placement. Sloan almost never makes it to finals because the way finals are restructured but she got an invite. Backup was, I think, about 6th from an invite at ISE but he made finals and won first place.

It's confusing, I know, but if your dog jumps about the top of their titling division they have a much better chance of going to worlds than if they are a regular in the finals, go figure!

Yeah, I was reading up on the different qualifiers on the DD website, was a bit confusing!

I think I might be misleading in how I worded my post above, I'm going to a regional event - as in club-hosted, versus a national, dockdogs hosted event.

LOL Lizmo that would rock - maybe our boys can got 1-2 in Blue Ridge. ;) And, yes, I fully expect Aeri to finish her senior title before Regionals in MD. :)

I got actual plastic bumpers from the silent auction at our last event and omg do both Kes and Aeri jump nicely for them, so we have that *and* their conditioning program working in our favor.

I got the parachute online - details on the Team Menapode fb page: www.facebook.com/TeamMenapode
