The weather has been blazing hot.. so we've taken to the pool! I got the boys new life jackets last weekend... Ruger needs one because of his hips, and I wanted to get Zealand one to build confidence in. Which it most certainly did! In just two sessions, he is jumping in on his own from the steps!

Do they do pretty well? We are going to Florida this year and I am taking the dogs to swim in the waves. Im a bit of a worry wart...do you think lifejackets would be a good idea?

Excuse any errors, my iPad hates me tonight.

Doesn't he look smexy in yellow?! I want to get him a yellow collar now LOL It was the only colour life jacket they had, and I thought it was going to look funny on him... got it on him, and was like... oh hey, I rather fancy that! haha

I would put life jackets on if they're going to swim in the ocean, personally. Ruger will literally sink like a brick no matter what, so his is mandatory... but even with Jolene, who is a STRONG swimmer, I would put a life jacket on if she were going into the ocean... but I'm paranoid lol

He does look great in yellow! It matches him in an odd way.

And yeah, I am too. I'm actually extremely afraid of the ocean due to an incident last year where I almost drowned, but I will still go out in it as far as my anxiety will allow. And because of that, my dogs will be hooked up to very stable harnesses AND collars with 100 ft long lines. No way in hell am I letting them in there without being completely secure.

What fun they're having! That's great that Zealand became so happy and confident with the life jacket on. Great pics!

My only real fear is water I can't see the bottom of... even if it's only a puddle :-/ I love being near water, and on boats even... but you CANNOT get me in water I can't see entirely through. LOL I almost drowned when I was about 5, getting tangled in underwater reeds while swimming in a lake... at least we have logical reasons!

Thanks! :) Before I got him the jacket, he had jumped in twice on his own from the sides of the pool, having never swum before... and it was a little more than he could handle lol The jacket gave him an extra edge of confidence to jump in again, thankfully! He's proving to be a strong swimmer... I doubt he'll need the jacket for long!

I feel ya, I hate not knowing what is under me. We went inner tubing one time and when I fell out I almost had a panic attack waiting for the bat because I thought there were things under me.

I would have DIED. Simply... DIED. lol It takes me a minute of confidence boosting before I can cross from dock to boat, because I go into a mental frenzy imagining what would happen if I fell in >.<
