I am running into trouble with airlines, getting costs of upwards of 500, and they also want the cardholder present when the pup is loaded... Ummm? What how can I do that? If I could be there I would not need to ship!!

The one reasonable airline (who Talla was shipped with) is under time if year restrictions...

If I can't get this sorted my hubby will pull the plug, can't justify 800 plus to get her here :-(

I am devastated....

We used continental in July and August from Chicago to Vegas and new Mexico to Vegas. Both times the flight could not be prebooked you had to show up and hope there was room and both times we flew the cargo (dogs) early morning. Have you tried them?

I was told a lot of airlines are in fact climate controlled in the cargo unit but they're afraid I malfunctions, etc, so they just ban animals in summer/deep winter for liability.

Also both times it cost 250$.

Phoenix to Syracuse, medium size kennel (40 lbs for total weight)

The other issue is how in hell can the cardholder be present when the dog is dropped? The lady on the phone was adamant

We have to Pre book, otherwise it'd leave RD in an awful spot as she's flying out later herself...

Can you paypal the money to the person that's sending the pup off (RD?) and then they can pay for it from that? That way the cardholder is there but you paid the cardholder.

That's how I paid my breeder for shipping.

That may be a possibility though I am not sure if Grace wants to do that much legwork and I don't want to assume, and that's all dependent on if I can get a slightly cheaper flight and one that will work with me on times (temps)

It's frustrating because I get passed around and they seem to not have a good firm answer on if they'll even ship because of Temps! I don't want Grace stuck in a bad position!

Renee I will contact them ASAP

Thanks all! Tried to get info off paws n pilots but won't come up on my phone, will take a Better look tonight, Hubby is ok with it, but more frugal than me, I was hoping to keep it at $700 tops to keep him happy but I may sneak a couple more dollars in if needed..

When I shipped Tango to Jennifer she send me the money via Amazon Payments and then I paid when I dropped him off. I don't remember what airline it is, but she'd probably be able to tell you (Izzy's Valkyrie). I want to say it was whatever airline Sizzle used, in which case they're under time of year restrictions, too.

FINGERS CROSSED!

I know firsthand how frustrating it is to get a Mexidog from Mexico to HOME. There were times I felt like just giving up.

... but now I realize it was all worth it. :)
