My name is Barbara. I am 21 and currently living with my 4 dogs, 4 cats, and my boyfriend of 3 years. I work in the grooming salon at a PetSmart and hope to be promoted to the pet training department soon. I want to be a dog trainer/behaviorist. Here are my dogs intros:

Malyk is my two year old Rhodesian Ridgeback. We got him a few months ago, it's a long story...lol. But I absolutely love him. He gets lots of exercise and we have recently been pumping it up so I hope to see his muscles define a little more.

Next is Chevelle, my APBT and she just turned a year old. We have had her since a puppy and she is the most well trained in my pack. She is a sweetheart and doesn't know a stranger, lol.

Next is Penny, our 11 year old dachshund. She is a cranky and feisty old lady and the queen bee of our house.

And last but definitely not least is Baloo, our 16 week old mix breed puppy. Any guesses as to what he may be are welcomed, because I haven't got a clue! He weighs 25 lbs and is taller than my APBT already at 16 weeks old. He is extremely energetic and feisty.

Please breed guess! Lol!

Annnnd a picture of me:

Thanks for looking!

Annnnd, sorry for the triple post. I had too many images in the first one so I had to squeeze the others in too, lol.

You've come to the right place! I'm a pro trainer and Chaz has been my single best source of information for pretty much everything in the industry. Seriously, I don't tell my coworkers about Chaz because I believe what I learn on here gives me a leg up. ;)

Yep, I have learned most of what I know from forums and made connections with people on them that have taught me a lot. I also read any dog book they have laying in the break room....lol.

There's a thread around here somewhere (maybe a sticky?) about recommended dog books. I'm sure you could do a search and find it. VERY comprehensive list of the greatest training books out right now. And VERY few of the books are sold at Petsmart, LOL. ;) I like Petsmart a lot, but their book section definately leaves a lot to be desired.

I don't disagree with that. There have been a few books that I will be looking though that will say something ridiculous and I'm just like....sigh... Guess this is what I get for reading generic behavior books. Lol.

Welcome to chaz!! Great crew you have! I started as a trainer at Petsmart to get experience and quickly got hired elsewhere. Start networking with your local training community now, take classes where ever you can. Audit classes of other trainers, read books and attend seminars. There is always new information or another way to look at things in the world of dog training!!

Welcome to the forum - your dogs are beautiful! As for a breed guess I have no idea - its hard to tell when they are young! His size and wrinkles on the forehead could maybe indicate mastiff or bully mix?
