ugh. I feed TOTW--and the bag I have is not under recall--and have been feeding it for quite sometime. But I am at the end of the bag, and will need to buy more food this week. I have no idea what to do now.

Now I'm getting curious. If all of the pet food plants in North America were inspected, I have a feeling that this would be a common finding. And, I don't just mean Diamond.

ARGH! the bag of Solid Gold wee bit I have is made at the Missouri plant, I got this bag as a gift from my aunt who lives in the states.

I haven't opened it yet, I was going to but then the first recalls stared, I will wait more to see what happens but I guess is going to be recalled.

I will try to find if the recipient is still there, this is sad when I got the bag I was so exited that Pompadour was going to eat a buffalo based kibble, sobs.

So it was manufactured almost a year ago and is just now being tested for salmonella? How does that work?

I have TOTW from Missouri plant and don't trust it now.

I find a lot of people are going to Earthborn which is supposed to be a good food and similar in price to TOTW. I'm off to the pet store today to see what else it out there. This is ridiculous.

What are the effects of salmonella on dogs? Not sure I've seen a dog with food poisoning before.

Raw feeders don't worry about salmonella. It can happen, of course, but so can a lot of other things.
Most of the (realistic) concern here isn't over the dogs eating the foods... it's the people handling the food. So not dogs getting sick, but people. If people handled raw meat to feed to their dog, they're likely going to wash their hands and probably wipe down the counter too. But if somebody just opens a container and plonks a cup of kibble into a bowl, they might not then immediately go and wash their hands.

I sure do after this. And if I'm using kibble as training treats, I nuke it until hot.

We switched to Earthborn and are very happy with it.

So far, so good...my girls LOVE it. I even caught Moka licking the wall behind her dish, looking for any spills...LOL

Stools are good(nice and firm, MUCH smaller than on Nutrisource) and no eye boogers, which was a big problem with Nutrisource. My girls don't do well on foods with chicken in it and unfortunately all the Nutrisource formulas had some form of it in there. Earthborn doesn't, which is why I switched.

It's really well priced too-I paid $36 for a 30 lb bag (with the $3 e-mail coupon).

Good luck!

I'm going to be switching to Nutrisca soon because Solid Gold's involvement with Diamond has me concerned... It's not the salmonella but the possibility of something that COULD hurt my dog that bothers me most.
