Just wondering. What purpose does a collar that wide on that little dog serve? Not only is it far too wide for his neck length it looks unnecessarily thick and heavy, looks like a neck brace on him and I can't imagine it's very comfortable! Even on your lab mix it looks very restrictive.

It's actually a lot lighter then it looks and it serves the purpose of protecting his neck....pretty much my paranoia from when he was attacked and almost died from bite wounds to his neck back in December. And it doesn't restrict his or her movement at all

Okay then. Well there are other ways an angry something could kill him so by that logic you ought to cover him completely in thick layers of nylon

... Or you know, bring that SMALL dog inside if there's creatures out there that have tried to kill it before.

Or you know, my dog isn't allowed inside where I currently live and I have no control over that at all. And the collar serves the purpose and it helps soothes my paranoia what's the problem?

We are simply trying to understand your logic. Have a dog in a 2" collar isn't going to stop the dog from being killed or seriously injured. Perhaps, if that is an issue where you live you should kennel them or find them a new place to live until you move to a new place where they are out of harm?

Hahahahaha!!! Never going to happen, and they do live in kennels....before he was living on a zip-line when he was attacked. Hince why I went out and bought a kennel.

Actually, it is not unheard of for wide collars to prevent injury to the neck. Not a magic bullet though. Kenneling the dogs at night would be best if not bringing them in the house. Kennels are pretty cheap at TSC and can be removed if necessary.

Because I have no where else to go? I don't see an issue with dogs living outside at all. My Beagle is 10 years old and if you knew WHY I was living where I do, you'd think differently.

Not everybody is able to up and move, no, but they usually have a more caring response than "LOL NOT HAPPENING" (obviously not exact words)

ETA: it would also have to be a new member for it to be a new member stoning. Also, she just complained in another thread that somebody will keep their dog outside so she "fears for the breed", and yet, here she is, keeping dogs outside. Stones, glass houses, etc

Cause suggesting that I just up and move because my dog lives outside is IMO stupid. I'd rather him live outside then me be homeless of currently living in a car with my drug addict of a mother.

I just find it bothersome how fast people are to assume the circumstances of other people's lives. Would I prefer this posters dogs lived inside? Yes, of course. However, I'm not going to just assume that this person is an uncaring, neglectful owner when I know very little about them.

In my defense before some else starts in on me. I live with my boyfriend and his parents, they took me in after my mom got a divorce from my step-dad and moved to another state to enter rehab for a drug problem taking my little sister with her. My family was split up and in the process I had to re-home my mother's westie and she took my Dachshund with her and then fled from my grandmothers house where she was staying and left my Dachshund down there where me and my grandmother made the heartbreaking choice to re-home him to someone who wouldn't up and leave him like that. I lost my family and two of original three dogs. The Lab is my boyfriend's dog that I took in as a foster and he adopted her on the spot.

So do think I'm VERY lucky to be still be living in the state where my friends, family, job, and boyfriend are. So in order for me not to be homeless, it cost my dog to live outside where he PREFERS to be, anyways. So it wasn't a tough choice, but it allows me to live and provide the best I can for him. Could have I re-homed him and gave him a better life indoors, maybe. But after 10 years and everything we've been through together, I think it'd kill us both to do so.

Anything else I need to clear up?

And I find it bothersome when people continue to put a (small) dogs life at risk, when they already had problems with the dog being nearly killed. If something wants to kill the dog, a nylon collar isn't going to stop it.
