I just popped in to say I'm sitting in the parking lot at the commissary (yes, in the jeep, like a dog) laughing hysterically. Lol

I'm glad I'm not alone then. I sure thought that stuffy, overly thick neck and bordering on roman nose was unattractive but figured I didn't know the breed well enough and maybe the pems I grew up with were too moderate.
Not sure what the deal is with the "droopy" looking heads and roman noses but it's becoming more common in show GSDs too. To me, it just so ruins the look. I loved Jora's head/expression, to me it was classic GSD:

She was 12ish here I think with a thick wintery coat

Happy Dog

Focused Dog

I knew a guy when I lived in Poland that had a lovely lightly built, athletic male Carrot. I was quite taken with the dog. Then he got a half sibling that was more typical. I suspect that the first dog was a happy accident.
LOL on your auto-corrections!

Corgi people sometimes call those types (lightly boned, leggy, pointy headed) "throwbacks".

*drools* He is gorgeous.
Oohhh I agree!!! He's so handsome! I originally wanted a male but I'm so glad I got my little, petite female! I prefer males overall and will try to find a moderate male when Eden is no longer competing. I get comments all the time on how she's "too skinny" or "too small" or "too petite" and I think she's just fit, athletic and feminine :)

ETA: This is Eden

So in my "I'm bored" internet searches, and I'm on a breed search kick, I came across this guy.
WTCH Ad Astra Magnum Force, RTDcs, HTAD IIIcsd, HRD IIIs, JS-N, GS-O, RS-O

Ohh I'm in love...I would take a dog like that any day. He does SAR, Herding, Agility...drool.

Well of course my own Hawkeye is a favorite of mine. He has a couple physical faults that keep him from being my "ideal" but is overall an excellent example of the breed.

"Diamond Aire Pierce the Sun TT CGC CD TD OTDs STDs CD TD DNA-VP (Search and Rescue Dog in training)" The double CD and TD are not a typo.

Another of my favorites is Hawkeye's Dam, Britta
"WTCH Diamond Aire Solar Flare CD OFTDs RTDsc Can. HIs DNA-VP"

Another of my favorites Jimmy
"HOF CH Copper Canyon Caligari CD" He is Hawkeye's Great Great Great Grandsire

And also Last but definitely not least, Hud
"Hartnagle's Hud" He is Hawkeye's
(prepare for this)
Great Great Great Great Great Great Great Great Grandsire
Hud was the sire of many greats in the breed and was a great foundation sire. Owned by Las Rocosa aussies.

Hud, on the right

Gotta love a dog called "No No Ryno."

I can find NO good pictures of him, but I love him. He's small but balanced, and is just such a bright personality.

I found this dog while trying to find another, and he took my breath away. He's heavier than I prefer for the activities I do, but he's so masculine and self contained. He has such a luxurious coat.

This dog. Magnificent.

Well, Goose is my ideal;) But, since she has a slate nose, which is a no no, I'll go with this guy.

What I like the most in my dog's bloodline is how little they have changed over the years, still seeing the same breed type today as we did in the 50's!
