I've not had much success with the various fans designed *for* crates, but I love my O2Cool fans from Walmart.

Both are battery operated but have a nice battery lifespan, both provide good air movement, and both have some adjustability for angling the air just right. I have a small one and a large one and the small one is light enough to rest on top of my soft crates. :)

I do see a lot of agility people using Ryobi floor fans but they are too pricey for me.

I have the Ryobi, and I adore it. I've broken several cheap battery operated fans over the last few years, and this one is sturdy enough to survive life with me! Way better air movement than the others I've had as well, with a lower speed that is good for putting it right next to the crate. The batteries were fairly expensive, but the nice guy at Home Depot pointed out to me that it was cheaper to buy a drill that comes with 2 batteries than to buy the 2 battery pack . So I have a drill I don't use, but two batteries for my fan. They make it through an entire weekend for me.

I have the ProSelect Deluxe one from Pet Edge for when we're traveling in the Escape (Caleb is in a Vari Kennel then).

I also have both of the 2Cools that have been mentioned (my big one is white, too). One downfall of a fabric crate is that you can't hang a fan on it. I ended up using the smaller one at the computer for a couple of summers.

I use the ProSelect Deluxe with the frozen cooling ring system! I have the 12v adapter and really like it. I also have a couple O2 fans and love them.

Do you mean crate FANS as in fans/lovers of crates?

If so, midwest icrate double door has always been a favorite of mine
(I like side doors, they can be pushed against walls and take up less space.) plus it folds down which is nice

Crate fans as in cooling fans for crates
I have yet to find one that works WELL.

This one from Dr. Foster & Smith at least works.
Nothing to write home about. It's plastic and the part that hangs on the crate isn't the best.. but hey, it works.

at the end of the day, the battery powered personal fans work the best, even through they don't hang from the door.

I use a regular plug in clip fan. I think they are like 10 bucks at walmart. I need to get a couple of battery powered ones as well.

I have a couple of those, too. I hang them on the sides of the rabbit cage. Before I had the rabbit, I used one at a field day the local FFA chapter had. Between the fan and the all weather blanket, the inside of the crate was about 5-10 degrees cooler than outside.

I have one of the Precision ones and it works great for me... I bought it when Pepper was still here, so over a year ago. Payton uses it now.

I also have one of those like the Fosters & Smith one Fran linked. It also works fine but the annoying thing is, sometimes you have to turn it on and off a few times to get it to start working. I'll turn it on and go "CRAP the batteries are dead" and then if I turn it on and off a few times it'll start running and run all weekend. ;P

I like the ProSelect ones, they LOOK much nicer too. I just can't justify buying them when I have fans that work...

Try running one with the cigaret lighter adapter thing while the batteries are in. Just make sure you turn it off when you smell something buring or you just might do some damage to your vehicle's electrical system. ;)
