RACE BLING.

I look like crap but I just woke up from a spontaneous nap on the floor like 20 minutes ago hahaha. My hair is a mess. I looked way cuter coming across the finish line earlier today, I can assure you.

On the right is my medal from last night's 5K, on the left is my medal from this morning's half marathon, and in the middle is my medal for doing both.

I'm so proud of this one, guys. I had to stop and stretch a couple times, and took two short walk breaks after mile 11 (in hindsight I think I should have just stopped and stretched more, then gone back out running, instead of taking a walk break) but I just ran like I wanted to. I didn't even stop for my first stretch break until mile 9. I just... ran. There's a part of the course that kicked my ass last year, it's out on the edge of town and it's a loooooong slope uphill. And you end up running at least half of it straight into the wind (15-25 MPH winds today!) I was seriously AFRAID of that part of the course this past week. People start dropping out to walk left and right at that point. I was worried it was going to beat me - or it would allow my mind to beat me. I hit that part of the course and I just told myself... just finish this part. You can walk after this if you want to, but just keep running all the way up this part of the course. And I did it, and OMG, I felt like the baddest mofo in the world at that moment. And I just kept going. In a couple more miles you hit the park I run at sometimes and that's another one that turns runners into walkers all over the place (and is the point I started having very serious pain last year.) I told myself, just keep running - you can walk once you leave the park. And I kept running. HA HA. And I chomped up the next two miles after leaving the park.

I smiled for the finish line photos last year, but I really meant it this time.

And now it's 10Ks from here on out LOL. I love the half-marathon, I really do. But the training time involved is brutal. We were joking this morning, running races would be awesome if it weren't for the training! Two weeks ago I spent at least 230 minutes JUST running... that doesn't count stretching or strength training or yoga or cross training. It's a massive time investment, it's really hard to juggle that AND training the dogs, especially in early spring when there's so little daylight. So I'm glad to have run this one the way I hoped I would, because now it means I don't have to try a re-do hahaha.
Payton and Georgie are now officially in trouble, because it's their turn now!

So freaking proud of you, you're inspiring me! :)
<3 <3 That is the greatest thing I could hear!

Thanks everybody!! I'm super excited that now that it's over I can start using my fitness center more LOL. All the classes I wanted to take were on days I devoted to running so I couldn't take them. YAY CYCLING WHEEEE

Race photos are already up! I vaguely remember this moment LOL. I kinda want to order this one because it's hilarious. Except it's like $25.
