Its been Years since I have had to feed a kibble food to a dog. I plan on supplementing raw, and eventually putting puppy on full raw. Right now I need a kibble for a few reasons. I also want him used to eating kibble as he will have to when we travel, or when he goes to the breeders to show.

I kind of want to feed him a grain inclusive diet just to get him used to having grains in his diet. I feed alot of grain treats and leftovers. Riley was a garbage gut and could handle anything. I want that again, and am hoping that if I condition him to things early he might be (poodles can be So GI sensitive). IDK. Sounds stupid?

I do have access to alot of really great foods. There is a local feed store I like to support and they carry good brands. I was thinking Innova, Exclusive, or TOTW. I know Exclusive isnt the best, but its a good food and hasnt ever had any recalls (which I worry about). I might have access to others through a new carrier at work (for at cost $!), so any others, please list.

Innova and TOTW are both grain free, aren't they?

What will the breeder be feeding the puppies?
Innova is not grain free, TOTW is.

I just switched both my dogs to Victor Grain-free ALS and I am seriously impressed with it. I switched them both over to it from TOTW cold turkey after feeding random cans of dog food for a couple days (mostly Nature's Variety - I didn't realize I was so low on kibble). Both dogs handle it beautifully, not even a soft serve poop. Logan almost always has squishy poops when I change food. He's even been eating other junk (grain-inclusive treats, eggs with shells, etc) along with this food, and not a single loose stool. AND it's much cheaper than TOTW, at just under $35 for 30 pounds. And I like the ingredients better than TOTW. The one con is that it's not readily available everywhere yet. It just arrive at the feed store here 2 months ago.

Do they have earthborn holistic or Fromm? Those should be in the same price range and I would feel more comfortable feeding those than anything comin out of Diamond or P&G factories.

If I was going to pick one for you, for grain inclusive I would absolutely suggest Fromm Large Breed Puppy.

Maybe one of the Acana foods? I think they have some with grains.

Grace gets a lot of Orijen's six fish (it's grain free); they're owned by the same company, Champion, which I like.

I intended for her to be almost fully on raw, but with all the training we do, I have to use kibble as a reward; I also use a lot of different food toys in the crate. Helps keep me sane. :)

I don't believe that you ever got your second dog, I need photographic evidence

Nature's Variety has a REALLY good puppy food. :) That or you could just start him on Nature's Variety Prairie/Instinct. It isn't too high in protein & its super high quality.

Fromm is also an awesome kibble.

Natures Variety isn't all that great for the price you're paying.

I'd agree with Fromm if you can get it.

Prairie isn't super high protein, but Instinct sure is! When I had Murray, I had him on the NV puppy, the kibbles are super tiny. Saga is on the NV Prairie lamb formula and it's really working for her. I just recently started giving her the raw for breakfast on work days and she is having no issues with it whatsoever, which with her normal sensitive tummy is a near miracle. Nico is on the NV Instinct chicken formula for now because he burns calories like crazy.

I really like Nature's Variety Prairie Puppy, or Fromm Gold Puppy - my top two suggestions for grain-inclusive puppy-specific foods.

Otherwise, Nature's Logic, PureVita, and Go! are excellent ALS foods that are grain-inclusive.
