I think you're being wise, Fran, checking it out, seeing how you feel about it and leaving any decisions until afterward :)

Once upon a time I really wanted to have mine done, after a lifetime of my parents and sister giving me grief about my nose. My sister had one of those perfect "Hollywood" noses.

From that came my first practical introduction to kharma. Purdue, my GSD, broke her nose for her -- head on collision with the top of his head (I TOLD her to move, that was part of his version of playing chicken). She didn't listen; ever since then she has a big hook in her nose . . . and she always had a high pitched nasal voice and that made it even worse. :D

Now, I think I'd look odd with a "fixed" nose :) Perspective changes a great deal over time, as you grow.

The absolute worst part of the whole process is having 800 yards of cotton packing pulled out your sinuses via your nostrils. Ok, so maybe not 800, but it sure as heck felt like it! It burned and hurt so bad that I saw white spots. It's the first time I ever passed out (it was brief...I was only out for a few seconds), I have a very high pain tolerance.
THIS THIS THIS!!!

OMG, it was TERRIBLE. I thought I was going to pass out and throw up, and the nurse had to hold a bin for me incase I did.

I had sinus surgery and had a deviated septum fixed. The appearance of my nose was changed with the surgery- it points up now and it used to point more downwards. I am very happy with how my nose looked afterwards, even though the point of the surgery was to fix sinus issues.

Renee...did you name your dog and business after your sister's broken nose? :p

I also had sinus surgery and a deviated septum fixed. They actually have a new type of packing. It's a gel, and what doesnt completely dissolve comes out little by little on its own. It doesn't hurt, and I was really happy with it. No gauze stuck up my nose like my dad had when he broke his nose!!! The surgery didn't change my nose, but I wish it accidently had, I don't like my nose :p. However, I don't want to deliberately get it done, and change who I was born as. I have a mixture of my mom and my dads noses and...idk, I'd be kind of sad to change it. HOWEVER if it was a big part of my culture like that, I wouldn't hesitate as much. So really, it's up to you. If you have a problem with your nose, change it. But I agree with everyone else here that you DEFINITELY dont need it. You're perfect!! But you'd still be beautiful either way!

Fran, I had swelling for 6 months or so, and still had major sensitivity for at least a year. While I'm happy I had mine done, and don't regret a bit of it, I couldn't breathe! Not to mention the crookedness from having it broken so many times.

Our family has a hereditary gift of that lovely hump/bump in the upper portion of the nose. I definitely had the family trait. LOL Even with a few comments about it here and there about it when I was in middle school (oh...that lovely age), I wasn't that upset with it. I didn't necessarily like it, but every one of my brothers and cousins had it too.

Knowing what the risks are, and knowing the actual procedure and recovery involved, if I were looking at having it done purely for cosmetic reasons, I would pass (talking about myself).

There's no harm in the consult, but be aware that he's going to schmooz you to the hilt.

I think it's a highly personal decision, and it's just one a person has to make for herself/himself.

I love (love) noses, especially strong ones. I think they make people's faces. I also, having had very major surgery as a young teen, can't imagine doing that voluntarily.

But if it's something that would make you happy, go for it. There's nothing wrong with getting a nose-job. It wouldn't change who you are, just a small part of what you look like.

I would never get one done personally but I am not one to talk because I have no issue about my nose. Only body part I've never picked apart.

I'd say go for the consultation and just see how you fee afterwards. My mom went for one for a tummy tuck and breast implants and never got them done because she realized she didn't want to after going. There is nothing wrong with wanting a nose job. You are beautiful now on both the inside but if you feel it would make you feel more at home in your skin then go for it.

If you want it, get it. Nothing wrong with checking it out.

I need to have a nose job one day because I have a deviated septum and can't breathe out of one side of my nose. One side of my nose curves along the bridge and the other side is tipped up and looks good. I'm actually looking forward to it being symmetrical.

I would totally do it and every one has always told me my nose is cute. I have no opinion in it really, but if they showed me something I liked I would go for it.

What I need is a rich uncle to offer me a boob job and I will be happy.
